Oh Tony! I love that 89! I’d love to see a complete walk around! I’m so envious of your parents. The two tone interior is just amazing!! Beautiful!! I think 89 was probably the best year out of the 80’s TownCar year models. I’ve been wanting one for so long.

Thank you! I put the full walk around and drive video of this car at the end of this video. All you have to do is click on it as this video ends. We agree that the 89 was the best year.

I really love these tutorials since you can't find these procedures in too many other places. As a tip, whenever i take apart something - I have a separate table that i unfold(big and made of plastic) and use it to place my parts and screws in a pictagram so i know EXACTLY where all the components go when i go to put them back. I too have a huge complex about putting different screws in different places so i want everything to be put back the same way i took it apart. Great video.

Thank you! Yes, I always lay everything out in the order it comes out. I get into so many jobs where others have put the wrong screws in the wrong places. Drives me nuts!

I'm dumbfounded to see that Ford buried the fuses for the anti theft module underneath the dashpad. Great fix Tony, I would have been looking at the blend door thinking that perhaps the vacuum canister was no longer holding vacuum. This car and many other Fords of the era were some of the best most dependable cars they ever put out imho.

Yes, Sir! you are preaching to the choir. We've had so many of these cars over the years, and dad and I were just talking this evening about how many trouble-free miles we've gotten out of them. I want to do a video just the alarm system itself one of these days. There will be a couple more videos coming out on this one, probably over the weekend. Thank you very much for watching and commenting.

Tony, Putting aside air conditioning issues for a moment, you have reminded me how much I miss car interiors that are not black or gray. Can anyone remember the last time someone made a car with a red dash or steering wheel?

the auto fan was my favorite part on our family's 73 coupe's ATC. That unit was without a fan control at all, just nudge the temp lever over to bump the fan up or down, worked great, very simple, very intuitive.

Another great video Tony. This is going to be helpful when I start working on the hvac system in my 1981 Marquis Brougham. It has the optional Automatic Temperature Control system and currently only blows warm air through the defrost vents. In all of my years of working on these cars, I have never had to work on hvac other than recharging systems. Surely the components are the same and locations similar to the Town Car. Thanks for the confidence boost, your timing is always impeccable!

176,000 miles car is in amazing condition and beautiful. Of course it's one of your cars of course it is 😂. I had a 89 Town car i bought from the limo company i worked for. It was the owners mom's car and was used for corporate pickups. Which meant picking someone up from the airport. I hated driving to the airport still do it's a complete nightmare lol Boston Logan international airport. There is a limo car park but it was always full my luck 🤦 i loved that car 🚗 I'm going to get another one day. My car currently has 160,000 it's a 05 Toyota Corolla i thought that was a lot lol

I need to do this exact same thing to my 89 and I keep putting it off. The dash pad has never been off and I didn’t want to “break the seal” on it. The problem that I am having is that I keep it set to about 73-75 degrees on Auto and it just gets colder and colder and won’t blend the warm and cold air together so it gets a lot colder than 75 degrees in the car. Do I need to worry about replacing that little ring of foam around the opening where it connects to the opening in the dash? Thanks so much for doing this video!

Another interesting video! Makes me wish I still had my ‘88 Town Car. It also was white with a full blue vinyl roof and leather interior. It was the base model but had the Premium Sound. I used it for livery service in NYC. I had an overheating issue with it at highway speed. They put a pressure tester on it and found that it had a cracked block. The block was replaced under warranty. BTW, do you ever grab an ear or two of corn from across the street when it’s in season?
@tonyscarcare5657
@tonyscarcare5657 3 ай бұрын
Wow! I've never heard of one of them having a cracked block before. That's crazy. I'm glad they fixed it. No, that corn is sprayed with so many chemicals that I don't even like being outside when they do it. We definitely did that as kids, but certainly not nowadays. Everything is poisoned! It's sad.
@michaellindquist31
@michaellindquist31 3 ай бұрын
@@tonyscarcare5657 It would overheat, as I said on the highway and when it cooled down, there was no coolant left in the radiator! That’s what they determined. They had it for a week and it never leaked on the ground. It would blow out the crack under load. Glad I didn’t have to pay for the repair! That must be corn for industry or “cow corn” as my mother used to call it.
