I got one built into a tape measure. That it can differentiate the time difference between something and something else a 1mm further is staggering. Considering light travels at nearly 300,000 Km /second. I could work out the time span to travel 1mm, but I think it would be incomprehensible..

P17 probably 5000 rounds. NEVER the “trigger reset” problem. No value in “more refined”. I shoot Aquila Super, which has very, very few duds. I have numerous semi auto 22 lr pistols and rifles from S&W, Ruger, Winchester, Armscor, Remington and Llama. The only semi auto gun that is as reliable as the P17 is my Ruger 10-22. I don’t have the Taurus

We rarely carry .22lr these days, but never worried when we did...both .22lr and .22wmr, always in a revolver to mitigate the reliability issue...the mission is stop the threat, and yes, retreat is an option...too many folks get hung up on 'destroy' the threat, which is problematic...folks bring up the 300 lb meth head, but those people are very rare, the purse snatcher in the Wal-Mart parking lot much more likely...the recent way folks put .22lr is, 'angry swarm of bees', and there is some validity in that, especially at home defense with a 25 round magazine...if just 20% (we all know we're decent shots, but under duress, hands shaking, nerves frayed, can barely see or hear, 20% hit ratio is great shooting) of those rounds hit, that is still 5 rounds of hurt...in a carry gun that means 1-3 rounds hit...a few will be much better shots, but the vast majority of us, yup, 20% hits is good shooting...the ideal is zero shots fired, from a multitude of angles (legal, moral, mental, etc.)...this is not a Hollywood style gunfight in the vast majority of scenarios, and keep in mind, for some people's nightmare scenarios a bazooka/flamethrower/ma deuce combination might not be enough...bottom line is rule #1, have a gun, but know there are Zero gaurentees...

Spray brake cleaner will dissolve and clean the carbon build up like a champ. A brass brush with Hoppes #9 will get rid of the REALLY bad build up. I use brake cleaner to clean my ARs and it works fine... just lube it LIGHTLY after cleaning.

I just purchased three at academy … tan . $15 a piece . These are made Vietnam and really seem well made and tight steal . The USA Blackhawk cans seem to of completely dried up . If you are trying to not support china every 5 min , Vietnam and India are producing good stuff (Indian made ) at Walmart .

Oh wow, you weren't kidding when you said absolute beginners. No shade, but anyone that doesn't know what a caliber is or that big guns =/= big bullets maybe shouldn't buy a gun for themselves yet. There's a certain mindset someone has to have to safely handle a firearm and at this stage it's not there. Best I could would suggest is a single action .22 revolver.

These will shoot meaningfully harder thru a rifle barrel than a handgun. Seems like 30 to 40% harder. Never chrony'd it.

Why would I buy a Glock 44, the P17 functionality and accuracy is as good or better than the Glock and more than half the price. P17 Hands down!!!!
