I hope someone got the answer to this. I realized that my LUMIX g95 photos don’t look as good as videos at the same high ISO. Any thoughts why ?

*That was a crappy frame. You didn't allow enough of a 1/3rd sky in your composition. You know, there are so many "internet experts" out there to show you how to do something, and 3/4's of them are incapable of producing usable results. I simply could not, and I would not give that sequence to one of my clients. I would be fired !*

Curious if the placements avoid reflections or if something else was done since you don't mention a ton of diffusion

Wow. Don't want to take anything away from the content of the tutorial; that's a really great process and result. But this short itself! So cool with the graphic overlays, sound editing, transitions, and timing. Very well done!

The blackmagic has a table that shows the shift in dynamic range based upon the ISO. Is this only true for Black magic cameras?

So really if your shot is too dark, rather than altering the ISO. It’s better to adjust aperture and shutter angle? 🤔 I’m a novice film maker who’s make a couple short films and slowly learnt stuff as I shoot. However the thing I feel least comfortable with is knowing which to adjust out of the three when it comes to exposure at any given moment. Cause I also understand to adjust the shutter angle can also adjust motion blur. So surely the only thing to adjust unless in low light situations, is the aperture for more light?

Been looking for something like this for ages. As much as I’ve learnt a fair amount from just practical experience. Not having the theory behind it has really stopped me from feeling confident every time I use.

Using a invariante sensor , the ISO do not matter so mutch. Will not Change the noise. But what about Dinâmic Range?

If we use an aperture of 1.4 and focus on the brightest star, how will the ground remain in focus if we don't adjust the focus for each photo?
@vincentlammert70036 күн бұрын
It won't. If you want sharp foregrounds, you have to do focus stacking for every panel. Usually the sky is tracked and the foreground is blurred. Then you do a second pano for the landscape with every panel of the landscape pano focus stacked. Then you assemble landscape and sky panos separately and combine them in Photoshop using a layer mask.

Although this is a great explanation of a complex topic, I always feel like I walk out of those videos with one thought: use enough light, because you can‘t fix everything in post 😁

Same here. It's incredible the things we read or hear on the topic of camera ISO, sometimes. It takes some digging into the electronics to finally make it much clearer.

Beyond the dual gain ISO, ISO on an ISO-invariant camera only matters because you will adjust your other exposure parameters so a shot will look properly exposed at any given ISO. The noise doesn't come from changing the ISO, it comes from changing the exposure and starving the sensor for light. If you kept all your settings the same and only changed the ISO within the gain bracket , every shot would look identical if in post you set all of their ISO values to be equal. That's why with these sorts of cameras, you want to use ISO values in the lower part of the range in low-light to retain shadow detail, and higher ISO values in bright conditions to retain highlights. Or just shoot at 400/3200 because they give the most balanced dynamic range.

So I’m on a run and gun shoot and base ISO 800 is a little dark. Do I stick with it and increase exposure in post? Because this way I’m not technically exposing correctly in camera am I?
