X-Shears the best shears I have found, I keep NAR shears in kits, better than average, but I keep X-Shears on person. I keep mine on NAR or Gear Keeper scissors leashes, X-Shears tend to be stollen and it keeps gooky shears out of my pocket/pouch until I can clean them. A bag of wipes in my pocket facilitates that between patients. Toss the key ring that comes with the scissors leash, it just gets sprung going over the Rip Shears handles and buggers up you handles for your efforts. A loop of 550 works for me. The other option is the Heros shears. Everything the Raptor has, and then some, without all the nooks and crannies that are near impossible to decon, but for me too big for on person carry, but great in bags, visor things, FD turnout coat pockets ect.

Very expensive though. $550.00 is a lot of money for that. You can get knives with better steel for much less.

Missed the mark big brother. If you showed me a sub 7” unibody steel flathead with a plain jane stanley screwdriver body but subtle grip enhancements and plausibly deniably sharpened tip you’d have my 60 bucks. Maybe $100 if there were tungsten carbide grip weight inserts and a threaded reversible flush fit carbided glass breaker tip. Now gotta make it myself

If only the law permitted me to protect myself in the UK Sadly a fixed blade would land me in prison, then again So would a folding one

They look cheap now, no leather grip on the handle, and insane price!

Wow Dom, as a former Navy SEAL you should be ashamed. Apparently you don't maintain your gear properly. That's not how you learned!

Excellent. Would want an option for a thicker handle, maybe some scales one could purchase to expand the shape and make it thicker without changing the design, but I would still buy one when I can swing it. I am not allowed to carry a fixed blade even with a CCW in Merryland (MD).

Serious question though, why would I draw my blade over a firearm? Most places you can't conceal carry a firearm you also can't carry a blade.

Knife self-defense advice is hard to give because of all the jurisdictional differences. From a technical perspective, I don't question Dom's advice at all. From the perspective of legality, having some good options depending on where you might be is a good PACE plan.

100% agree that fixed blades are the way to go for self-defense. Im not hating on folding knives, but I'd rather have zero moving parts imo.
