Hello! I have an SR5 and have been having some issues with the distributor and ECM and now it appears that the wiring that is grounding these appears to be the issue but my mechanic is having issues finding cause. Any help you can provide will be welcome.

My 4afe has an acceleration lag and rough idle that I have never been able to resolve. Everything stock. As of now, I’m just trying to get mine to run as efficiently as it can as is. 112000 original miles. But the fuel economy is phenomenal, and it’s a very dependable daily driver.

What is the differnace between a 4age Mr2 engine and a ae92 4age engine?

I owned one, mine was a 4AG not a 4AGE i deleted the E and did ITB webber side drafts and it sounded Soooo good.. But i will say, terrifying to drive with daily traffic.. mine died at 490k miles.. kid across the street now has it..

4AFE: Header - full exhaust - P&P - C56 transmission - Intake (subjective really) - TODA Camshafts (yes they did have cams and its very rare and you would need to get shim over bucket replacement of the 1nzfe) - Tune via (Dicktator, Link or Adaptronics) you'll be getting 95 to 100 kw to the wheels (which is around 125 to 130WHP). This seemed alot of work comparing to 4age swap, but if you want to keep your 4afe this is the only way to get more power if you want to keep it N/A or turbocharge it and be on your way lol.

There were 3 series of 4age, both came in bigport and small port variants. Probably made up with old stock bits used throughout. AE86 AE82 AE92 - highest output, small port ran tiny ht leads Then there’s also the 4agze. There’s the differences in rib numbers on the blocks which is vital if going turbo

After a week of repairing wires and tuning the carb we got our 89 SR5 out to test drive last night. This channel has been a huge inspiration for me. We saved one more AE92 from the junkyard.

Well its official, I saved an SR5 from a lot in the desert. It was in beautiful shape and we're working on getting it running again. I shot you a DM a little while ago before I bought it but she's now in my garage. We'll need some advice on these things so if you have any info please reach out. Hope to hear from you!
