Brilliant. Do you know if it's possible to get to the starting point by public transport?
@eddieforde15 сағат бұрын
Thanks, as far as I am aware no public transport goes to the car park. There is a TFI local link bus around Dingle(Daingean Ui Chuis) that may pass on the road where the turn off to the car park is, but it’s something I’ve never done tbh. Route 268 I believe.

My Dad is originally from the foothills of the Paps(the Kerry side of course 😆). Fadó fadó, I oft heard stories as a child about the struggles before the treaty was signed, the Black and Tans, how the old IRA members went on the run from them up the Paps in the fog one day. The locals knew their way in the fog so evaded capture etc… between that history and the prehistoric pagan significance of the mountains and surrounds to the arrival of Christianity and its influence in the area… it retains a huge significance in irish cultural change over thousands of years! Ní fhaca a leithéid ann arís!
@eddieforde18 күн бұрын
thanks for that Diarmuid. Between all of what you mentioned there the history of these mountains on their own is fascinating. I could well imagine them being a good hiding place as even looking at old maps there wasn't much cover up high at all, with the exception of the gully to the south possibly being wooded half way up. Other than that it's a barren spot. Take in the history of Shrone and its steeped in history.. And only back the road from me, so very lucky that way.
