If you cleaned the carburetor and it starts up but dies on its own, it's safe to say either the carb is still dirty or the gas tank has dirt in it, and it made the carb dirty again. Or you could have bad gas, check the gas you have in it for water or dirt. The likely thing is the carburetor is still dirty. Make sure you put everything together correctly and sprayed through all the holes with carb or brake cleaner, and reassemble. If it's still doing this, try replacing the carb, sometimes dirt just doesn't want to come out.

Check your throttle cable to make sure the inside wire is correct and that the outside part that doesn't move is secured right at the end. I can send a picture for reference. Also, sounds like carb is dirty. If you already cleaned it and same issue either you skipped part of the video and didn't remove emulsion tube etc or maybe there's dirty just really stuck in there. Try cleaning it and make sure gas is clean (no water or dirt in it). If you're sure you did those things, make sure you put everything together correctly. Still doesn't work? Buy a new carburetor for it, sometimes there's just dirt you can't get out of it- $15 Amazon.

Exactly! The most you will usually have to do on these is tires, new engine, and throttle cables. Getting a go kart for $100 will almost always make you double your money

If the engine turns on but dies when riding sometimes, it's likely the carburetor that needs cleaned. I have an updated video on this engine with easier to follow instructions, if you check out my channel page you'll find it. You likely have a clogged jet in the carburetor

Not necessary but if you are going through dirt and mud, I would find a tube for it so no dirt gets into the engine. That's to release crankcase pressure, usually the tube goes to the air box.

prepare for it to take way longer than expected lol I swear something always pops up. I started working on getting our atvs ready for summer use and was thinking it would be a day project and its now 1.5 weeks later and I'm still waiting for parts lol

Are you asking about how I connected the throttle on bike to the engine?

Bolts used for jackshaft clutch plate were 5/16-24 (fine thread) and I think they were 1inch in length but not certain on that

@@BlakesBuilds no wayyy thats sweet i only bought one can of carb cleaner and got 1 out of 2 none running mowers to run but it sputters some and i mightvelost the spring to the other one lol

Depending what side you laid it on, you may have gotten oil in the carburetor. I think someone else commented recently about a similar issue, and a carb clean fixed it

Lesson learned! Turn fuel off and tilt engine on exhaust side to avoid that next time, and to avoid fuel leaking from carb out of air filter

I really appreciate this comment, and you are right about needing a good balance of mods. I don't know if you heard at the end, but I was trying to adjust the carburetor to match the new pipe and you could hear the engine have a slight hiccup in the idle. That is due to using a 1.25" pipe instead of a 1" pipe, causing a little bit too much exhuast flow. I have done dozens of 1" pipes paired with upgraded jets and air filter and I can attest that there are significant power gains from those simple modifications. A pipe alone will increase exhaust flow, which would still increase power, but adding it with a modded air filter and bigger carb jets will make 5x the difference. Despite anything, I think we can all agree straight piping a go kart is one of the funnest and cheapest things you can do to it

Actually that sounds like a great idea lol. I've done that with the spark plug port in a car before and used a reinforced tube and duct taped onto vacuum. It will work as long as the straw part doesn't cave In on itself
