Hey Mukesh! I am in the process of moving to Canada on a PR and I also have my H1-B in the US. I was hoping to see if you are familiar with how I can go about maintaining my H1-B and fully fill the criteria for being a resident in Canada on PR. What are the does and don't for that? What does the tax implications look like? Any references for immigrations attorneys? Thank you for the great content!

Hi Mukesh, does Person A who only has a Canadian permanent residency and not a Canadian passport, But is married to Person B a Canadian citizen who is getting H1B for the first time to work in America, can Person A apply for work authorization without waiting for an approved i-140 form for person b? I'm asking you because you seem to be very knowledgeable with the Canadian PR process in American H1B process.

Mostly wrong, honestly not surprised as the method of education in India is very poor, however they are much more superior to places like Pakistan, a mostly Fundamentalist governments. Both countries treat woman (born female) as less than male (born male), due to their religions, it is unfortunate that their children will be held back, but this is the choice their parents made for them. Both countries learn by rote. "Education by rote" refers to a learning method in which students memorize information through repetition, without necessarily understanding the meaning or context behind it. This approach to education often involves a focus on memorizing facts, figures, and formulas, rather than developing critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. In a system that emphasizes rote learning, students may spend significant amounts of time memorizing information that they may not fully comprehend, and the learning process may be focused on short-term retention of information for testing, rather than long-term understanding and retention of concepts. Critics of rote learning argue that it does not encourage creativity or critical thinking, and that it can lead to a lack of interest in learning, as well as the inability to apply knowledge to real-world situations. Proponents of rote learning, on the other hand, argue that it can be an effective method for acquiring basic knowledge, and that it can provide a foundation for more complex learning and problem-solving. While there are some situations where rote learning may be appropriate, such as learning basic math facts or memorizing vocabulary words, a more balanced approach to education, which includes opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, is generally seen as more effective in preparing students for success in the real world. When Indian citizens move and work in Canada or the United States, they may be subject to taxes in both countries, as well as in India. The tax laws and regulations can be complex and may depend on a number of factors, such as the length of time the individual spends in each country, their residency status, and the type of income they earn. In Canada, for example, residents are generally taxed on their worldwide income, regardless of where it was earned. Non-residents, on the other hand, are only taxed on income earned in Canada. Indian citizens who move to Canada and become residents will need to report their income earned in both Canada and India to the Canadian tax authorities. Similarly, in the United States, residents are taxed on their worldwide income. Non-residents, however, are only taxed on their income earned in the U.S. Indian citizens who move to the United States and become residents will need to report their worldwide income to the U.S. tax authorities. India also has its own tax laws and regulations, and Indian citizens may be required to pay taxes on their worldwide income, regardless of where it was earned. However, India has a double taxation avoidance agreement (DTAA) with both Canada and the United States, which helps to prevent double taxation and allows for certain tax credits and deductions. It is important for Indian citizens who move and work in Canada or the United States to consult with a qualified tax professional who is familiar with the tax laws and regulations in both countries, as well as in India. They can help navigate the complex tax system and ensure that the individual is meeting their tax obligations in all relevant countries.

A scenario where H1B max out is nearing soon (Nov '23) while PERM processing is ongoing. Plan to get a Canadian tourist visa and cross the border by road and spend some time there (~2 to 3 weeks). I heard there is no stamping when you stay in Canada for less than 30 days. Can the person get these days spent outside the US recaptured to his H1B? Just looking for ways to buy some time in case PERM goes to audit.

Hope you were in your 5th year by 2013 and your Priority date might be around that date by the late. You would have had your GC if you had waited till another 2 more years, 2021-2022. Things were favorable for many of us with Priority date 2011-2014, many of us received GC by 2022 summer.

You speak so well. I moved to Canada from US after 12 years in the US as well, but I had to self-deport myself to Pakistan from the US after my PERM got rejected. Years of savings got burned up due to that. The light at the end of the dark tunnel of H1B turned out to be a train for me !
