@@stevenfan1218 similar, if you’re cutting in the wild, that’s why this is such a great mod, it keeps the original screen "spark arrester “ in the muffler. Just have to slide it back into place, and tighten the retainer bolt
@TL50-r9f9 күн бұрын
Some 455's have a baffle plate and some don't but the 1/2 inch small hole restricting flow just before the spark arrestor can be cut back away from the final exhaust slit on top of the muffler. You don't have to cut out the spot welds just take time to uncrimp all the way around the clam shell box muffler. cut out for more flow and hammer back the crimps tight. And yep the slit is the last restrictive exhaust flow out but you could also cut and weld in an extra round side port as well. I would keep the spark arrestor to keep wasp mud dobbers from clogging it up.
@tfloutdoors3278 күн бұрын
@@TL50-r9f thanks! That very interesting, didn’t know that they crimped the mufflers like that. The round port is probably the way to go but this works too. It seems like on some of my other husky’s mufflers they crimped and soldered most of all the seams together.

A 2 Stroke engine isn't like a $ stroke. A 2 stroke needs a certain amount of back pressure from the muffler in order to run correctly, if there's not enough back press. and its not timed correctly you will lose air fuel mixture through the exhaust. you time a 2 stroke mufflers back pressure by the speed of sound , you exhaust length, the RPM you'd like to achieve most power at. blah blah blah there's a shit ton of math to get a 2 strokes performance to increase through exhaust.

@WildWestGarage not exactly or I would have gave it a mention, the inspiration for this mini pipe came from the old nitro RC planes, and car world, back in the day. Had one for years, and messed with it a lot, modding everything that was modifiable w/o messing with the motor itself. I remember buying a pipe for it that looks similar to the one featured in this video, an Aftermarket pipe, but made from aluminum, it gave that little nitro motor quite a bit more power, and a quicker throttle response. Had to try to replicate it on a larger scale. It’s not as easy as it looks. A ton of thought and planning goes into them as you know.
