I love how the Sorceror's Stone and Chamber of Secrets games (as well as a lot of the marketing for when those movies first came out) had the character designs that were a slightly strange, yet endearing amalgamation of the original book designs and the movie actors.

Great video but the first televised video game award show was in 1994 called Cybermania on TBS.

Nimona is a great example of a phenomenal piece of art that got snubbed by big corporations. It was based off a popular webcomic that started on Tumblr with the same name, and was picked up by Blue Sky… which Disney bought out and subsequently shut down. Then, about 3/4 of the way through production of Nimona, Disney canned that too. No one knows for sure, but considering the main couple is two gay men and the main character + her whole arc in the movie is one giant, extremely obvious metaphor for being trans… Well, it’s obvious why Disney got rid of it. Luckily Netflix picked it up, it got finished, and, best of all, it ended up being an Oscar nominee and beating out Disney’s releases that year, including Wish, their hundredth anniversary film. The movie is so so good, the animation is a breath of fresh air, and I cried so hard at the ending. It is such a beautiful triumph for what started as a webcomic by one person on Tumblr ❤

I remember when Netflix was on the 3DS. This was before they made the XL models. It was both terrible and amazing. The original 3DS system was not designed to stream video from the internet, even with decent internet speeds, so stuttering and occasional freezing was expected. But goddamn did I somehow watch a hundred or so episodes of Bleach on it that one summer. Netflix was good on the Wii tho… until it wasn’t.

My understanding was that Disney traditionally had released their Animated Classics to be shown in Theaters every seven years, in order to create Magic for each new generation of little kids. I remember being SO excited for Bambi to hit the theaters in 1976, as I loved the figurines in the shops at Disneyland. I was ahead of the times, for I SNUCK a cassette tape-recorder into the theater. I relived the audio for months, even learning to play the four songs on the Piano. Then a couple years later, it was Lady & The Tramp. The next year, The Aristocats. It made each Classic the Unique Piece of Magic that it is, worth waiting for, as opposed to a distraction thrown on the VCR to shush a whiny toddler, that is no more magical than Skibbidy Toilet. In my humble opinion.

I wanted to play Pokemon Go game at the height of its popularity, but my mom wouldn't let me download it on my phone. She saw all the reports of people doing stupid shit while playing it and clearly she didn't trust me enough to not be an idiot, which was confusing since my mom and her boyfriend wanted me to get out of the house. I also didn't have a data plan at the time so I wouldn't have been able to play the game even if I was allowed to by my mom. I was also a teenager at the time so her word was law to me.
