Great video. You must have been watching Post 10 videos to learn how to unclog culverts and drains.

Just curious about that structure. It looks like it is quite far down in the water, but you only clear the top six inches or so. Is it a solid metal structure below the initial "grate" you can see that you are clearing?
@UpNorthMowingDudeКүн бұрын
It must be. The water has never been lower than the lip it's pouring over.

Im guessing the metal sheet is there to make sure a log that is too long going through the "maintenance hole" and down the pipe, blocking the bend at the bottom? It would be stopped by the sheet? Thats the only reason i can think of for the sheet

Somewhat ungrateful for your hard work and help. It must hurt to get that type of response. She would be better using a dry block sand, and brush it in the gaps. Allows drainage, easy weed removal and cheaper than grouting. I think you do wonderful things. This is exactly the type of situation that Reddit loves in its‘Choosing Beggars’ page btw!
@UpNorthMowingDudeКүн бұрын
That's nice, thanks. Yeah it's happened a couple times but that's ok. The end result was a great before-and-after so I'm happy with that. It's weird - I did the "nice" for them but I ended up happy afterward and they didn't. Happiness....or should I say "contentment"...is a choice.
@shawnbarczak1766Күн бұрын
Idk how big of an opening ypu have at the bottom or how easily it may clog...would this perhaps be better as glory hole style of drainage??? It may take away from the views we enjoy seeing...but make less work for you...again don't know the drainage aspect at the bottom bend...this is all your decision. Thanks for the content.

Whoever cut that grass should have baled it to avoid all of the mess. It should probably be cut more often so the stalks don't get so long. But I am sure the county guys have miles to cut.

Grapevine can really tie things up. I pulled a bunch off a tree once and found out it was dead. The green leaves were all grapevine.

Great job. Glad you didn't slip and sit down in the water, lol. I love the sound and sight of water flowing. Where does the water go from where it came out? Just an overflow spot? I was surprised you didn't try to move that tree that separated one side of the trap from the other side. Unless you already know that it is too heavy or massive. This is another thing I want to put on my bucket list. I used to love following water to the gutters when I was a kid in Milwaukee. I would take a stick and push the leaves away. But I need womens waders now. Only ditches where I live now. Somehow they never seriously clog. I will have to find a creek.
@UpNorthMowingDudeКүн бұрын
On the exit side the water just flows down a little creek. It winds back and forth through the woods. I've only walked about 50 yards back so not sure where all it goes after that. This is fun to do.

Hey man. Great update. I wish you will cut an opening on the side of drain. Making it so much easier to unclog. Taking out 1 bar will be big difference. Pretty sure land lady will be ok with that. Still can't figure out why it is divided by a sheet metal. Cheers man. Always a relaxing one to watch. 👊👍💪👊☺️

I'm willing to bet that the realtor's lawn company didn't do the yard 'cuz they couldn't use a riding mower. You've done the homeowner a real favour - to me an unkempt yard speaks to the condition of the house itself. Prospective buyers would see that and drive on past. You did such a thorough, meticulous job putting it back in order! Terrific result!
