So sorry about you r "power surges'! Do a search for "around the neck fan". There are several kinds. it hangs around your neck and blows up onto your face. An oscillating fan would help stir the cool air in the sewing room too, but for the flashes/surges, the neck fan would really help. Your blankets look so soft and snuggly!

I have one that goes around the neck but I don't like it that much. Now, I did buy a cheap one so maybe it would be better if I upgraded. For my area downstairs I'm looking into a remote controlled oscillating stand fan just like you suggested. That way I can turn it on for 5 or 10 minutes when I need it and then turn it off when I don't.

It's a new concept that red heart came out with. It's an all-in-one granny square yarn. It makes it so that you only have two ends to weave in per square. There are lots of videos on KZbin that show people trying it out. I personally don't enjoy granny squares but I thought it might make a great blanket.

Lol! This is a suggestion for a fan - wall mounted that oscillates. I was just listening to your fishing story and then you started talking about the fan - I do feel for you. I started menopause in my mid-thirties then I had cancer and needed a full hysterectomy at 38 so full menopause after that. I could walk around in shorts while it was snowing - I stayed hot. Sounds like the circuits are getting overloaded...will unplugging the AC while the fans are going help? Between your machine, iron, and lights that could be the problem with the fans - lots of stuff that might be on the same circuit. Do you also have a fridge in your sewing room? If you are a caffeine addict (chocolate, coffee, tea, soda) then you might consider non-caffeine cause caffeine will bring on or intensify hot flashes. Spicy food also but anything with tomatoes did a number on me. Since you are charting stuff to tell your doctor, try charting how you feel after eating and drinking. Good luck, my biggest problem were the mood swings - or as my husband would say my "extremely expressive 'bite me' eyes." Do you like British TV? This season on Grantchester one of the main characters is going through menopause and she thought she was going crazy. Another character brings her a big box of china and tells her to break a dish every time she feels angry - she went through a lot of dishes!
@UndertheNeedle282
@UndertheNeedle282 14 сағат бұрын
Breaking dishes sounds hilarious, although a bit expensive. I'm fortunate in that I have not had many mood swings. I don't eat a lot of spicy food but coffee is absolutely critical to my mornings. I don't drink much of it on the weekends so I'll have to see if I have reduced flashes on the days when I don't have coffee. In general though, they are getting better.

You've just giving me permission to buy a crap ton of cotton yarn now because I can make washcloths and donate them, lol. In my bedroom I have a window unit and a ceiling fan. But now I need inexpensive options for the kitchen and my work/sewing area. Summer is almost over and fans will be going on sale so I'm hoping to find some good deals.

I love the quilt with the panel. You did a great job quilting. I finish a quilt from Fat Quarter Shop, but scared to quilt it don't know what to choose from straight line or swirls haven't done a quilt this big before. 72 1/2 x 93 1/2.
@UndertheNeedle282
@UndertheNeedle282 13 күн бұрын
That's a pretty nice sized quilt. I tend to straight line quilt on larger projects just because I'm lazy. I know that if I do free motion it's going to take me longer to finish the quilt than if I do straight lines.

Chaunda, your wall hanging is really nice! From what I could see of your quilting, when you flashed it up,🤣, you had used a light thread for the front and a beautiful blue for the back. At NO time did I see the opposite thread showing thru the stitches. THAT’s the problem I have when I use 2 different opposing colors. Your stitches appeared even as well. It takes me a bit of testing on sandwich scraps to prevent this with my Juki. It doesn’t have a stitch regulator, but I’m getting more interested in having one. Would you mind sharing the name of the machine you have and if you like it please? Most of the time, the shops where you purchase a machine will give free lessons on how to use them. We’re you able to receive any classes? Thanks for the info my friend! 💕🧵🧵
@UndertheNeedle282
@UndertheNeedle282 13 күн бұрын
They offer classes but I haven't taken any. I'm going to revisit that because I can't figure out the stitch regulator. I tried using it in the border of the panel but was unsuccessful. So in the main body of the panel I didn't use it. There are a couple of spots with a bobbin thread does show on top but it's minuscule. As far as my stitches, some are pretty good and even and others aren't. But I'm learning more and more that it doesn't matter because you can't see the imperfections in the final quilt.

I use sewing as way to cope also, but I get so overwhelmed with life stuff, that I can't hardly get in there to sew. When I stop in the middle of a project to put away, I make notes about where I am in it, so I can puck it back up to work on easily.
@UndertheNeedle282
@UndertheNeedle282 13 күн бұрын
That's a really good idea. I always tell myself that I'm going to pick it right back up and so I'm going to remember. The problem is months go by and then I don't remember. I get being overwhelmed also. I'll ignore everything and just so but then the things that I'm ignoring will start to back up and make me even more overwhelmed. It's like a double-edged sword.
