Thanks for this. With the cheap spool string that comes with it, the string would break literally every 30 seconds.. I respooled with the ugly line and WOW.. I did the whole front yard, back yard and along the fence with knee high thick grass without it even breaking once. It's like it's a brand new edger

Interestingly I just got off the phone with Toro a little while ago and they said the only blade approved for use with the current 60V 22” Recycler Max, my machine not yours, is the atomic blade it ships with. With these potentially deadly blades spinning around at ankle level I wouldn’t be comfortable introducing any potential metal fatigue by being a “1 percenter” using a blade not specifically approved by Toro for a particular machine. There have been accounts of blade loss or failure, in particular one account I heard of many years ago of a thrown blade hitting a chain link fence with such force that it partially wrapped the fence around it!
@mheathcott2 ай бұрын
I feel like a lot of this is Toro trying to justify the higher price tag of the Super Recycler. The two mowers have the exact same motor, so what works for one should work for the other.

HAH! You're just like me...when the mower blows a few leaves out from under the deck you feel compelled to go back over them to pick them up...even if it messes up your stripes... AND even though there will be more leaves all over the lawn an hour after you're done mowing!!!

Can you compare these to the Oregon Gator Mulcher 3-N-1 Lawn Mower Blade For Toro 21-Inch 94-906 96-606? This would be an interesting test to see if the Gator's mulching "teeth" improve the mulching into finer particles & provide any better lift. This blade is made specifically for that mower. The blades bend down lower to allow clearance for the gator teeth to avoid the deflectors under the deck.

A way to avoid using the rubber bands would be to pull the car in and close the garage door first, attach the string directly to the carabiner and garage door hinge first, run the string through a loose eyelet, lean over your car, let the string hang with a small weight on it until it touches your windshield, have someone activate the garage to find that sweet spot where it touches your windshield and also doesn’t go through the eyelet when closing, and then just run the eyelet into the roof in that spot. Excellent idea though. I was just looking for a simple video with some tips on hanging the normal tennis balls but randomly found your video. I will definitely be going over and above and doing this now! 👍

Why take out the old mulch? It decomposes. And if it doesn’t decompose, just put a thin layer of new mulch over it just sprinkle it over the top.
@jkprojectsnstuff6978 ай бұрын
Eventually mulch is broken down into basically mud/dirt. When it gets broken down like this, weeds can thrive. Every now and then, I believe it's a good idea to have a whole, new, fresh batch of mulch. Mulch dye works great to make things look nice again, though.
@thatsnice998 ай бұрын
@@jkprojectsnstuff697 interesting because I didn’t see one weed in that bed. Also to build up garden beds I will rake back the mulch, place chopped up yard waste and cover it back up with mulch and put a thing layer of broken bag mulch for $1 a bag. Zero weeds.

I just bought 10 bags of mulch at Lowe’s for one dollar each because they were broken bags 90 and 100% full.. And I do that three or four times in the early spring when people are getting it in high demand.

During set up, leave a little extra string at the ball. After a couple of trial runs, you could move the above eyelet a little if needed, and find where the ball touches the glass, and no rubber bands are needed at all. Another nice touch would be if, with the garage door open and the vehicle outside, you could reach up and lay the tennis ball on top of the opener in an upside down bottle cap stuck there for this purpose. Next activation, the ball will roll out back in service again, nothing to remember!

I use .080 line and shave the end with a utility knife to fit it in the notch at the bottom of the spool. The line lasts much longer. Been doing this for years reliably. Im doing this on St Augustine grass. It cuts much better with the thicker line although its still weak for this grass type. It will maintain it okay but every month or two it needs a real edger to reshape the edge otherwise the thicker strands grow over and it will take a long time to cut with just string.

I like you have the 69v power clear 21” single stage snowblower with charger and 7.5 ah battery. I noticed that Toro has some tool only 60v mowers without the charger and battery. My toro 21” recycler personal pace mower I bought in 2001. The past 10 years it has been used as a edging mower where my Toro 32” timecutter zero turn mower can’t get. I could get a cheap gas power mower but don’t want to mess with gas mowers if I don’t need to. I can’t decide between the ouch mower or another personal pace one. About a $200 difference. I do have heart problems and a Ochoa mower might be too hard to punch. Good video thought.

...just bought the Toro 60v super recycler. Haven't used it yet, but your videos are a great primer as I unpack and set up. Question: I have steep slopes and it's not practical to keep the yard cleaned up of small branches. Would using the economy blade allow me to mow over them easier without sucking them up into the blade?
@jkprojectsnstuff697 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the economy blade would be the best blade to avoid sucking anything up into the deck. Its suction power is very poor, so this will help in your case. Thanks for watching and congrats on the new 60V SR!
