Hi everyone, I have a case like this: The CEO of company X wants to build X as a retail chain with coverage of the entire country Y (this is the business model). The operating model is: Company X is a holding company covering the entire country Y and establishes 3 level 1 subsidiaries covering 3 regions, 10 level 2 subsidiaries covering several large provinces and cities of each region. Question: Are the business model and operating model defined correctly?. Thank you.

I also think the 3NF is unclear. If the employee_id does'nt define job name, it doesn't define job id either.
@JesperLowgren9 күн бұрын
That is correct, employee_id does not define job name or job_id. Although it is likely that an employee must have a job id (but that is cardinality).
@luc796414 күн бұрын
I think the 4th rule of 1NF is very unclear I believe you should have explained what a repeating group is and how what you are doing is solving it.

A lot of this seems arbitrary. So in third normal form how is the job name not defined by employee id?
@JesperLowgren2 ай бұрын
There is a difference between RELATED and DEPENDENT. Job name might be related to an employee, or it might not, if there are no employees with that job name. But they are not dependent, because an employee and a job can exist separately, e.g. they do not depend on each other to exist.

I'm a little confused on step 4 of 1NF.. You circled the two skill and skill id columns indicating that there can be no repeating groups. Then you moved them. But you moved them both to the same new table. If these skill columns were repeating groups in the original table, what makes them not "repeating groups" when side-by-side in a different table??
@yanabudnik3482Ай бұрын
I am confused about the same thing, it looks like the second table is still not in the 1NF as there are repeating groups...

It would probably have been worth mentioning Archimate and the free Archi tool although the visuals will still need to be done in a better visualisation tool like Visio or Inkscape.

100% agree, Archimate is much better for the actual modelling, using PowerPoint or Visio as the presentation layer.

why is the column next to "employee id" still "skill 1 id"? should it just be "skill id" instead?

So why is Job Name not defined by Employee ID, but Address is? I got all of this video except this part.
@JesperLowgren3 ай бұрын
Because the employee ID identifies the address, and the address depends on the employee id. But job name does not depend on employee id but on job id.

Hi I have one question.Can I remove Employee Id Skill 1 id table? and add new employee id to skill id and skill name. So the final table will be skill id employee id skill name.
@JesperLowgren3 ай бұрын
Hi. That would violate normalization as skill name is only partially dependent on the primary key, e.g. skill id.
@highwaytoheaven47382 ай бұрын
@@JesperLowgren you mean employee id does not depend on skill id and that violates 2NF. Isn't it?

Although still a bit abstract, it is good. We extend it with a BRACI-X MODEL. B=BPMN model of the processes. RACI = IS NORMAL RACI Then X = eXtended. Where Operating model is eXtended to include repositories for all components (governance policies, standards, procedures, reports, HR job descriptions, tools used, training needed, awareness campains needed. ) At center is the RACI. Upper left is the goverance docs that say WHY and who is responsible in raci. The B, bpmn, is in lower left and is linked to a task so one alwats knows HOW to do the task. To the right the RACI is extended to include the TASK (Tools, attitude, skills, knowledge) needed to complete that task. Above the raci is a link to the irganizational diagram and each positiin linked to a job description, that includes the TASKs and TASK (tools, attitude, skills, jnowledge) so we know if the hired persin needs training.
