Thank goodness someone gets it. Showing my nephew how to make mallets and every single channel was using miters and planers and table saws but the target audience was beginners . Even when challenged they’ll say I’m sure you can measure and cut without a table saw. Maddening! the point is watching you work through all the same things a beginner would using similar tools to show how best to maximize the lack of precision and power tools

I just bought the plans. Wish me luck. After reviewing so many workbench youtubes, this one calls to me, though I have the fun of converting imperial to metric. :)

It’s impressive the way human beings are able to turn a twisted board into beautiful frames. Thx for posting.

why didn't you go with the opposing grain directions of the ends and long sides/Bottom as in a traditional 6-board?

Yes. So after finding CHEAP WOOD, find a shop with some thousands of equipment. And that's it !!!

Lovely work bench- the tung oil makes it look like some of the old soft-wood work benches I see on other youTube vids., thanks Man!

Not at all boring. Very well explained and good camera angles. This will be very useful to anyone who wants to see how to plane a board flat by using a scrubbing plane, jointing plane and smoothing plane. Well done.

Be very very aware! The modern Hide glues (animal protein) are simply compromised formulations which merely resemble the original. Hide glue was dispensed from an electric Hot Pot on a brush with a very short open time until it cooled rock hard. Glue out would chip a hand plane's blade. Alcohol would fracture the adhesive. Extremely difficult with which to work from the Hot Pot. It was a very messy Pot. I remember when Elmer's White Glue use became widespread. The messy stinky Hot Pots vanished overnight. I can still remember that smell and sight. A miracle glue, that white stuff. Later the formulation changed to Polyvinyl Acetate. The original PVA was used by young Boy Scouts to coat newspaper for the sides of small canoes. It was waterproof. Mothers complained it wouldn't wash out of their boys' clothes so polyvinyl alcohol was added to the formulation for washing. Mexico is supposed to sell the original formulation.(???). The modern squeeze bottle stuff is do full of fillers to avoid Hot Pots that I would never trust it for any project. Well, maybe cardboard?
