why would you record an instrument twice?
@SojournerTracks12 күн бұрын
It is fairly common to use multiple mics on things like acoustic guitars, drums and amps.

Thank You so much for slowing down your speech so I could process everything real time. Most others speak and demonstrate so fast, I can barely keep up. Busing is no longer a mystery. Thank You!

Hypothetically ..my friend doesn’t have all the same plugins as I do… can I just somehow create a wav file mp4 file of said track within the project so he can still hear that track with the plugin he doesn’t have?
@SojournerTracks28 күн бұрын
Absolutely! If you select a track and right click in the arrangement window you can bounce the entire track into one continuous audio file. In the menu you will have the option to bypass plugins. Make sure that is NOT selected and the audio file will contain all the active plugs on that track.

And the separate Aux you created for the Kicks, you can right click, create track and then move the track into the track stack as a package! Works well when creating a template session and need the routing to stay contained where it should be 💪🏽🫡 #ThatsMyWord

how do i assemble a kit from individual drum sound presets from a third party plugin like analog lab? aside from recording wav files for each drum and importing them into logic. is there an easier way? i cant figure out how to get quick sampler to record from a different plugin and have both open at the same time.

I'm new to mixing and Logic. Your explanation was the first time anyone opened the whole mixer window. Most instructions have been thru the inspector on the left. I couldn't make the connections until you showed the whole mixer. OH!!! that's how it all relates. Thanks!!

Hey man. I'm currently tearing my hair out! I have multiple tracks of a guitar that I'm trying to flex edit together and it's causing a lot of phase cancellation. I have grouped the tracks, enabled quantize-lock, just using the first track as the Master Q, set flex to polyphonic, but the phase cancellation exists (i.e. the flex edits are causing phase differences between the tracks). Any idea what I may be doing wrong?
@SojournerTracks5 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear that! It sounds like you’re doing all the right stuff. Can you see if the flex markers are all moving in sync as they should? Did a track accidentally get time shifted? You could try deleting all the flex information and starting over. Also could try other flex modes and see if there’s a difference.

Great video! Thanks! Lets say you decide you want to take a track out of the group, how do you do that?
@SojournerTracks5 ай бұрын
Thanks! There are a couple ways: you can reset the output routing to “stereo out”. If it’s routing in a “track stack”, you can just click and drag the track out of the group in the main arrangement window.

Three suggestions: (1) Make your pointer icon large, so it's easier to follow your movement as you're navigating: and (2) explain how you (or your collaborator) navigate to the GoogleDrive when you want to open a file, because (3) some collaborators may be recording in GarageBand but you are editing in Logic. Simply clicking on the GarageBand file won't open it in Logic Pro Thanks.

I like the idea of writing automation using a controller and having a physical connection to the data, but in practice I rarely find I can play what I want better than I can draw it. Over the years I have got super-fast at writing automation data with a mouse and now you can copy-and-paste automation data and use the marque tool to create nodes, it's really efficient.

In Logic 10.8 they updated the pitch correction plugin. The GUI is different and they added a few controls but everything from my video still applies. The main things you need to know for autotune are Key/Scale and Response/Retune Speed.

Man it's insane how modulation/sustain etc is not assignable through separate controllers.... I have been having the worst time trying to figure out why my x-touch mini which has a fader on it... sometimes it does not work within kontakt in the virtual instruments when I right click "assign midi cc".... like it will trigger it within the kontakt but it won't write it when I record it in or with touch etc... it makes no sense at all... but if I move the dynamics/expression with my mouse while clicking it writes it in... been going crazy trying to figure it out...
@SojournerTracks8 ай бұрын
I understand the headache! There’s too many variables. I do know that CCs are not assignable in Logic. However you can sometimes assign them through the control surface. I’ve had success working backwards that way.

Thanks for sharing the tips. My mac prosessor is 1.4 GHz quad core intel core i5, memory 8GB. And i have follow all the setting as your suggest in the video already, but my mac still lagging and logic pro still overload like crazy. How need i decide to upgrade my macbook?
@SojournerTracks9 ай бұрын
Yeah it kinda depends on your workflow. If you just record audio it probably could last you but software instruments and plugins really eat up a ton of power. I finally had to upgrade last year. I just got a 2013 Mac Pro and upgraded everything on it. Still way cheaper than a new one.
