A current 61 standard costs $2100 before store discount. A 1964 Sg cost $330 back then - now equivalent to $3,600 in inflation. Having played originals and modern production line, the main difference is better, aged guitar wood and more hand finishing vs uniform cuts and minor hand work. For the $1000 savings the standard 61 i have is fantastic.

Great advice. I am 67 been playing since i was 14. had problems off and on, where I would have to take breaks. Now I use 8 on the bottom, best thing ive ever done Can play 3-4 hrs a day with zero physical problems.

IR-X sounds like a pedal albeit a good one. It also has a lot less mids. The Fractal sounds way closer to a cranked amp. It has way less noise as well.

I am going down this rabbit hole for direct use.. FM3 has got me some great sounds direct with lots of tweaking. Got a Suhr RL and a UA Ox box on loan froma buddy. I really like the Ox box, super simple to get a great sound. I tried the Suhr RL into the FM3 for stereo IRs, delays and verbs but to me the Ox was instant happiness with the sound and FEEL For reference my favorite amp is my Friedman Dirty Shirley 40 but that stays at our rehearsal space. I also have a Friedman JJ Junior which I am using at home for this, just for the BE and clean channel. I am like you in that I can detect a change when running through digital converters, I have tried the FM3 in front of my amps and no go for me. Back in the 90s I did the rack thing and did the paralell thing like you are doing here.. makes perfect sense to me and it sounds great. I also hate using plugins and tried a lot of them!

Why four notes per string? Most scales use three or two.

I know this video will trigger a lot of Gibson owners, but Gibson have gone nuts on their price. 2011 Gibson had a Double Cut junior for £900. The TV yellow dream is now £3799 or 8K for the custom shop which is about £150 in materials.

You know what happens ? A guy goes into a guitar store and buys a Les Paul and thinks when he gets home , he automatically thinks Jimi Page is going to come out his amp and he will sounds like him . He gets discussed and takes it back. He paid $3000 dollars and guitar center sells it for $2000 dollars . And it’s brand new . STUPID A …..

That's absolutely, 💯% correct ! Except that tone is tone,..playing ability and style are independent from it. So as you are aware, the realization that the raw tone comes from the gear, does not negate your practice.

Serious question. What would you recommend to get a live, in the room, sound to emulate your tone here ?
