Been awhile, and something went wrong with my vinyl experience. Listening with MP300 and Manley Chinook, right channel just faded out. Spare tubes brought it back for one LP side. Set manley aside for Project phono box s2. right channel dead. Removing stylus and replacing corrected problem for one side of LP. Having trouble solving intermittent problem. When it plays it is beautiful and then out it goes. Cartridge resistance is correct, wiring show no intermittent connection. Tone arm wiring rock solid from RCA to cartridge. I'm puzzled. Project quieter than Manly. ?????

I would take money over shit any day, but in this case, I have to audition both to see which one is better on my ear.

Based on this review I bought not one but two Nagaoka MP-110 cartridges. I have to say that at first I was disappointed. I have this old Technics SL-2900 and I thought maybe the problem was that the shell provided by Nagaoka wasn't compatible. So I bought a Technics shell and it all changed for oh so much better. I use a Cambridge phono preamp. My long time friend was amazed of how detailed and powerful was John Entwistle's bass playing on 'How Can You Do It Alone', a track off 'Face Dances' by The Who. Thank you a lot!

Spot on, Grado Gold was the cartridge that made me give up up vinyl, The joy only came back when I years later started with another cartridge without the wolly dull sound of Grado Gold.

Thank you, Ian, for introducing me and the world to the Nagoaka MP-150. ....after having it for some years now (turntable: Technics 1200G); I now feel the Nagoaka MP-150 gives me a sound I CAN ENJOY FOR MANY YEARS TO COME from my vinyl front-end (even more than the Nagoaka MP 200...will sell it)

Nice review, Ian. Thanks a lot! You're suggesting Grado Green 1, not the newer versions 2 or 3? Looking for a cost effective, but good mm cart for my Technics SL1210 GR2.

They’re a large dept store, selling mostly commercial-grade electronics, to the average consumer. Independent audio salons carry bespoke high-end components for audiophiles.

If prefer the Ortofon 2M Blue over the MP 200. The blue sounds more natural, the MP200 sounds crispy/cd-like. I'll also take the 2M Blue over the 2M Bronze.

@@LeRoySL-q5q To be fair, he has a point. Even if Ian had decided to discontinue the channel, he would have posted an announcement at least. The fact that there's total silence kinda supports the claim that he's gone.

To all fans of this channel, check out the KZbin channel SightsNSounds, We now have a channel that is an excellent replacement for the now-retired HiViNyws. Today, the Aldelphi Mall has some non-Hifi stores (Camera shops,,hair salons & dentists) and a few empty store fronts. And Yodobashi Camera now has plenty of audio equipment. Almost as much as in the Good Old Days.

Bear in mind down the track repairs, will Shanling support the product in five to ten years with parts? That’s a genuine question. I know Rega has a lifetime warranty. Shanling has 1 year? And if you buy it through their e store, you have to ship it back to them, which is giant hassle. With Rega and their huge dealer network, I can drop it in.

The cantilever moves around when playing a record. It doesn't stay in the center, It does not affect the sound in anyway. It's the generator that produces the sound. During the praise for Goldring deep bass I can clearly hear bad distortion in the cymbals not present with the Grado. You can also upgrade the stylus on a Grado, not mentioned in your review.

Line in, line in! Microphone comparison has too many variables. Entertaining reviews tho :) I chose the Audio Technica VM520EB over the Ortofon Blue. Ortofon Verso bottom mount has $30 premium. AT cart was over $100 cheaper and sounds about the same to me. Love the bass. Not too sure why so many people are crazy about the MP-110. Sounds good but not like all the hype IMHO. Turntable = BIC 981.

Genuinely the most engaging gentleman on KZbin. Your video about the scout mp110 and p1 started me on a journey. Literally your connection to me inspired me to go and buy the equipment by showing me not the difference between a cd and vinyl but what was posible by upgrading a single component. I would not have believed it was true. And now here I am 2 years later having upgraded my p2 to a p6 and about to upgrade my mani to an aria based on my trust for you. You literally chance people perception of what is posible and show those that missed vinyl the first time round what we have been missing….. music that isn’t heard aka cds but music that permeates and passed into and through you via quality vinyl. Super star.

I am having difficulty to set my new Ortophon 2M RED on my P1. I used the calibrator to install it as required and set the downward tracking to 1.8 as recommended . But it jumps track on almost all my vinyl records. I watch your video of antiskating on Rega P1 and I would like you to tell me what spacing I need to adjust my antiskating magnet for the Ortophon 2M red.
