Well, if you're exercising after studying, you have the time to think about what you've just learned. If you're videogaming after studying, your mind is busy thinking about the videogame (how to pass a phase, winning the match, etc), so your brain wipes partially what you've just learned

I think math majors and physics major having high acceptance rate is more corelation than causation. Math and physics have the highest average allumni IQ (~130). The average math or physics grad is a borderline genuis. Going into these programs itself won't make you do better on the mcat.

Is it better to to do a co-op program at UTSC as pre-med or a normal program? Does co-op negatively affect my chances of getting into a prestigious medical school? BTW, I am an international student.

I'm just about to take my last practice test before the actual MCAT (a week from today), and I'm watching this video while eating breakfast. CARS has been my weakest section by at least 3-5 pts on every practice test I've taken so far. I know they tell you not to change your strategy right before the actual exam, but I think Im gonna give this a shot and keep practicing until test day. Whatever nonsense I was doing before isn't working so hopefully this does LOL. thanks for the vid darren!

Amazing vid! Thank you for all the help and advice Dr. Chai. For the STAR/D framework of answering, specifically the Discussion component, you mentioned how in the itnerview, you should tie it back to the CanMed qualities of a physician. DO you recommend specifically mentioning those terms or would it be a better idea to simple convey those qualities through a description of the your actions in the situation? Finally I just wanted to ask whether any of these questions in your mock interview were asked in your actual interview? One again thank you for all your help and advice about your journey to becoming a physician.

Really, when you think about it, the whole situation for resident doctors in Canada seems a bit off. They go through so much schooling, only to earn around $60,000. That's a lot of effort for not a huge salary, especially with those crazy long shifts - up to 24 hours sometimes! Sure, if you love helping people, it might feel worth it. But then there's AI, right? It's getting so good at diagnosing illnesses, maybe even better than some doctors. Makes you wonder what's the point of all that hard work if machines are starting to do the same job? It's a big thing to think about, not just for doctors, but for all of us.

Your not wrong but your forgetting the most crucial part of being a Doctor which is the patient and Doctor relationship and interaction. That is what no robot at the moment can replicate and if they do anytime soon then 🥲😅😅

I’m also getting a 4.0 GPA in university thanks to cognitive loading. I’m not the naturally gifted type. After finishing high school with a 2.7, I learned about learning for a year (before becoming a student again). I concluded that I needed to use my working memory effectively, be in flow state, and framework everything I learned. Then I saw this video which absolutely clarified how I can improve my process.. Tysm! 🙏
