Answer to Jason's question about unicorns "The word "unicorn" is spelled with a "c" because the Old English word "horn" was pronounced with a sound similar to a Scottish "ch" or "corn". The word "unicorn" comes from the Latin word unicornis, which is a combination of the words uni- meaning "one" and cornu meaning "horn". "
@PauloSilva25221 күн бұрын
correct. For instance, in languages that evolved from the Latin, corn is horn, not a cereal. "Levar nos cornos" means you are hit on your head

So I manage a gold exploration camp in the mountains of Northern BC Canada and it’s considered a rain forest. One of the roofs of a cabin started leaking during our last big rain event. Everything that comes into camp has to be flown in by helicopter so instead of trying to figure out how to sling in 16’ pieces of steel roofing I decided to get a case of Lexel and tighten each roof screw and covering it with lexel. For the past 2 days it has been raining like I’ve never seen before and that roof has been working like it should. So I just want to say thank you to the Perkins brothers for introducing Lexel to me. Keep up the great work guys and keep putting out the best content on KZbin! Cheers from a thankful camp manager!

Day late and dollar short, but a suggestion for the future maybe... had you coordinated moving those steel trusses/girders with the building of the large 20' walls you could have prebuilt the walls like ya'll normally do but used the crane to position them into their final spots.... two birds one stone, lower cost, less stress, better speed and safety.

Back in '80 on a framing crew in the Denver area we did all let-in bracing on a new home developments. We handled it quick as a wink with a corded Skilsaw and a fir 1x4. Snap a couple lines on the diagonal, drop the saw onto the lines, follow up with a whack of the hammer to get the wood chunk out, drop the board in and shoot into place. With #10 sinkers. Voilá. Bracing.

You should seriously look into renting a LULL, or a different brand of the same machine. You could have easily set that steel with it prior to the framing, also set the trusses and lift a whole stack of the deck plywood and placed it on the trusses. With that style of a house you will use it for the entire project. Build a platform for it and use it for setting windows etc etc.
@adubbelde12 ай бұрын
Precut studs are 92 5/8 for 8' walls to give you 8 1 1/8". Once you apply 5/8 drywall to the ceiling it leaves you with 1/2" clearance for the drywall. Same for 9' walls 0" 1 !/8'. So precuts are 104 1/8". So it stands to reason that a 10' wall would follow the same pattern.
@Kanthalas2 ай бұрын
About the Unicorn, its the same, its derived from Latin, meaning One Horn. Cornu mean horn, also why its cornucopia, and also I think why Corn is called corn.
@balzacq2 ай бұрын
Germanic languages "horn" is cognate with Latin "cornu". Germanic "corn/korn" is different and means either a seed or the staple grain of a region, like wheat or barley. That's why maize was originally called "Indian corn", because it was the staple grain of the non-wheat-raising Indians. Americans later just shortened it to "corn", which sometimes causes confusion when reading UK sources, where "fields of corn" still means "wheat".
