Dolphins also can be incredibly violent towards the females of their species. It’s not just us and chimps. Although…. Except for a few very limited exceptions such as Laughing Hyenas, it really sucks to be female. And that includes being a human female. The twin curses of being physically weaker than males and can be forced to get pregnant against your will absolutely *dominate* your life even if you’re fortunate enough to be born into one of the most advanced countries where at least enough of the males have managed to figure out that your weak, badly designed body does not automatically house a weak and inferior mind and actually let us claim a decent amount of basic human rights automatically afforded to all human males. It’s still very much a hit and miss situation though because even some of the most advanced countries are still absolutely convinced that just because they *can* override a female’s decision on what happens to her own body, they have ownership over the female reproductive systems and prioritise the potential human growing inside them over the fully developed, functional human to whom the body actually belongs to. Being physically weaker than males confers so many disadvantages to being female truly sucks in so many ways. Want to walk alone anywhere? Be constantly alert. Size up every single person in the vicinity and figure out if that stranger or group of strangers across the street are potentially dangerous. Although you have been trained for this and have developed contingency plans for different situations it’s still doesn’t guarantee safety. Selecting a mate is quite literally a matter of life and death for a female. If your instincts and training fail you, choosing the wrong mate can have very, very bad consequences up to and including enslavement and… expiry. Of course the true nightmare is being born into a country where the males either haven’t figured out that a weak body doesn’t automatically house an inferior brain or they don’t care. After all, it’s been well proven by now with plenty of female doctors, scientists, lawyers, politicians, pilots and many other professions that only really require a certain amount of intelligence to do and do well yet there are still a depressing number of countries with males that insist on limiting and enslaving half the population. And then there is the pain and incredibly poorly designed reproductive system to contend with. 3-7 days a month of moderate to severe pain and bleeding. Not to mention the hormonal changes leading to drastically altered behaviour and biological variations. It’s an absurd system that wastes so much time, energy and resources to prepare for potential pregnancy despite the fact that it will only be used a handful of times for the whole lifespan. Not to mention the sheer amount and variety of permanent changes to the body during pregnancy with all or at least most being detrimental for the female and unpleasant to boot. And then the agony of childbirth. Yeah, being born female sucks.
