Thank you. I always wanted a crabapple tree. I live in Zone 9b (San Francisco Bay Area) and 10a. Will Evereste or Golden Hornet produce in my zone? FiLoLi has productive crabapple trees, but they are not marked with variety.

What are the plants along the base of these crab-apple alleys?

Could you grow Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry in your area? They are also a three-season tree with fruit. Native in our area, southwestern Pennsylvania.

So I bought one two years ago, The poor thing hasn’t done a thing, it hasn’t grown no crabapples. I’m a pretty new gardener so who knows. I’m sure the place I got them from was an online place and I live in North Texas. I also love the crabapple tree. I’d love to try again if zone 8 isn’t too hot for them.

Can you cook with crabapples?
@zaria57852 күн бұрын
I have heard some people use it as a replacement for cranberries. Most crabapples are tart. Perhaps you can make a relish of some sort.
@honeybee520002 күн бұрын
Yes! We make applesauce, apple breads, and cider/scrap cider with crab apples! It takes a considerable amount of sweetner to combat the general tartness of crabapples.

Have you had any problems with losing a tree? I had a white crabapple tree for 5 years and it died this year. I am not sure why. I am in zone 5 central Indiana. Was fine in the spring.

I’m sorry about your tree. Have you been able to examine its roots? Sometimes they’re susceptible to borers or root rot.

Is it like what feathers have iridescent blue sheen caused by the light bouncing off something in the structure of your new found variety. Good luck with them all. Can’t wait to see what you narrow it down to

The "open and honest" tone of all Erin's videos is what resonates with me, it simply a rarerity in todays world. She has a way of allowing her audience to feel valid, able and full of hope. I really enjoy they way she imparts information and I have so much respect for the staggering success she has achieved in her Flower Farming Journey. I will continue to learn as much as I can from this special lady.

Everyone reading this! Purchase the dahlia seeds from her. They are amazing! I bought can-cans , and the other ones, with open faces. The colors were amazing! I’m want to purchase more, and monocrop them in the front yard and the backyard. I have never had luck with storing bulbs, or tubers, but now I know I can still start them in April and have blooms by June until first freeze/frost. I will only dig my favorite three, just to see. Purchase more seed , next February! Her pinks with the collorette , I think she called them “the floret, “ is indeed my favorite color, for sure!
