Thanks, Mark. It's funny, really, as I can remember often doing this walk as a child, and the hills certainly did feel like climbing a mountain with little legs! haha! It's been many years since I've been as it's quite a popular area, especially in the summer, so it was lovely to visit on a beautifully sunny, crisp day - and that hill still feels like a mountain now on old legs! Hahaha! All the best to you, too, Jenny 😊

The Englishwoman who went up a hill and came down a mountain! I'm reminded of learning when I went to work in Austin that there was a rise in the terrain on the west side of the city called Mount Bonnell. I think it was about 600 feet above sea level and downtown Austin was something like 450 feet. One day I took a bus across town to the base of it (in those days I was a truly eccentric American who didn't own a car), and I climbed up to its summit. It took me all of 15 minutes.

It's a beautiful area, that's for sure! And not too far from us. If I could've got my arms around that tree, I would've 😅 Well... Robert isn't flying it. Going retro on your vids now Jenny...Take it from me that Lud's Church is not one of my greatest places...yes the site is beautiful and captivating and have visited many times as recently as Nov 24...The reason is that although I believe in the paranormal the place gives me a feel of unease and every time I have wanted to go I wanted to dispel these emotions as just my imagination...I felt a fear of real dread inside the church in November within two minutes of being there I wanted to leave and had my grandson with me...once we exited I was totally shocked that a place I know like the back of my hand seemed unlike what I had known...we became totally lost and walked around in circles for maybe at least an hour and a half...believe it or not I was so mixed up that my seven year old grandson said don't worry grandad I know the way back down even though he had never been before...He was right God Bless him and we joined up with my son and his son down by the River Dane...This is not a drunk Les putting this on as a scare but the place holds dark and unexplainable secrets and to be totally honest I never want to visit again even though it is on my doorstep...I don't really know how you and hubby felt apart from you saying it was beautiful but I certainly do not feel an easy connection to the place...enjoyed your vid of Lud's though...just wish I could feel the same...Cheers Les...and also like to add that I am totally rational and of sane mind🙂👍(I hope)🤣

That's really interesting, Les. The only weird experience was how it absolutely hammered it down when we left the car, rain and hail which the blackest of clouds, which hadn't been forecast! As we got down into the wooded bit, we were meeting people coming out of the church, and they were bone dry!!! I have a habit of asking people questions on walks, and I asked one couple how come they weren't wet!! They looked confused ! 🤔 Other than that, I had no unusual feelings as we explored. We both love hearing people's paranormal experiences - I've had a few weird, unexplained experiences throughout the years, Robert has too. So, I totally believe that you are of sound mind 👍 😉

@@bumblejennybee88 I am very sceptical when it comes to paranormal activity and on the day Lud's was heaving with visitors but not the reason I wanted to leave...I honestly felt a sense of dread...When me and my grandson left we never saw a single person for that hour and a half although we saw maybe over 100 people on the way into it...I was honestly frightened and never felt that way before...I tried to hide what I felt for the sake of my grandson but he led the way and whether it is the innocence of a child's mind or whatever I don't know but I have never felt so relieved that we came to no harm...Yes I have had a couple or more beers tonight but I do not tell lies and never have...The worst experience I have ever felt and don't even look back at it as funny which is not like me...enough said cos its getting late now and have tons more vids to watch if I can keep my eyes open🤣 including yours...Cheers Les...🙂 👍

I absolutely love Lathkill Dale, too. When on holiday with parents, we'd walk to where the river is wide (I think I remember a bridge) from there we'd follow a couple of routes back into Monyash. The route me and Robert did was a new one for me... I loved it, though, especially in the wind 😆 Robert has so many gadgets for videoing, photography, and a has a drone, but he hardly ever posts or shares them. He just loves using them. He has posted a couple of videos on his channel of random things, but that's about it. I tell him he should share more! Oh, We will return, I feel so at home in The Peak District and really do love it! We live in the middle of the city, surrounded by houses, and we have always had squirrels in the garden. We're close to a cemetery that is full of them and muntjac deers. I've even seen a muntjac walk down a busy street during the day. We don't have the red squirrels sadly (I think some areas they're trying to reintroduce them). We have two indoor cats, one of which goes in an outdoor enclosure in warmer weather. We do have about four cats from neighbouring houses that come into the garden, though, but I think the squirrels sort them out! We've also had foxes in the garden throughout the years. I chased one one year as it was taking frogs out of my wildlife pond! 😮😂 We have weird neighbours too!

Again another stunning vid you two...Goyt Valley is one of my all time fave places and visit at least once a month...sorry to sound boring but there is a vid on Goyt Valley in my Peak Memories playlist but one with a twist cos it was part of a paranormal series we did which had connections to my dad...Every time I visit I discover new things and have never tired of it in over 60 years...Apart from countryside management and conservation I was part of an Archaeological team that did a survey into the old Railway station in Goyt Valley which was part of the CHPR that closed down in the 60's...Too be honest I was not really into Industrial Archaeology more Neolithic and Bronze Age but we had to go where we sent...if you fancy a challenge next time you are up here I recommend The CPHR trail which runs from Whaley Bridge to Cromford...it is well over 30 miles but we followed a book that makes it into circular walks and if you are interested I will send you details of the book...its actually collecting dust on our bookshelf so you could even have my copy...Cheers Les.🙂👍

The Goyt is also one that is dear to my heart... it was one of my dad's absolute favourite places to be, and he will with my mum when it's time ( a few years yet, I hope) have their ashes scattered there. Our days of long-distance walks are gone now, sadly due to hips, backs, and knees, but we do prefer to do circular walks. Quite often, our walks here in Norfolk are longer trails broken up. I'm now starting to have a listen to music... I love all things paranormal! Your musical compositions are great what I've listened to so far. 👍 😃

Now your talking Jenny...I have done the Dragons Back a few times and it really is not for the faint hearted as it can also be dangerous when wet...Every time I have done it I said never again🤣...My son Jon wanted to do it not long ago so off I went again...Jon picked his kids up from school(my grandkids) and dropped them home but in the rush we forgot to take a single drink with us...The vid is on my Peak Memories playlist...Believe me I have never felt so thirsty in all my life😂...My son has also got his own channel and in one of his vids he is cooking steak in a Billy can on top of Parkhouse hill...I have got seven sons and they are all totally bonkers...They must get it off their mothers side of the family🤣...if you decide ever to try it again I swear I will not come with you👍...Loved the vid ❤...Cheers Les.🙂👍

I was so surprised that Robert said we'd do it as he usually says no to such strenuous walks, so I was quite excited that we were going up up and away! But oh my goodness, I honestly thought I was going to pass out 🤣 I'd only gone a few metres! I still blame the cough I had! Robert didn't shut up about it for the rest of the day! Don't think I'll bother with it if we're up there again 😆 Wow, 7 boys... we've got 2, that was tough enough as they didn't get on as kids - chalk and cheese! One into football and the other into books! Both nearly 30 now... Still different interests but a lot closer now 😃

I'm working backwards on your Peak District holiday so I will see you again at the beginning of it in a while if that makes😂...I love Ilam and was sent there in the eighties from Kinder Scout(Southead Farm) where we were based with the National Trust...I spent a week learning how to hedgelay but never in 40 years have I ever had to make one...not really a lot of calls for it up here as it's all Drystone wall...It was an interesting yet pointless course...Nice vid...sorry about your SD card but I bet it's all right when I see the next one ...Confusing myself now😂...Cheers Les.🙂👍

Haha! Makes total sense... I love that you're ploughing through them 😃 If you get bored, there are even earlier ones from a previous holiday (quality will probably be rubbish now, I think that year was videoed on my phone!) No, can't say I'd seen any hedgelaying going on... we did see a couple of people rebuilding a wall up from Hartington. That's an art in itself! Norfolk is a great place for your hedgelaying skills 😃 I was so annoyed with the SD card problem! I lost some really nice footage of a derelict, crumbling stone building that was sheltering some very large scary sheep!! Well, hope you enjoy our adventures 😂 Take care, Jenny 😊

@@bumblejennybee88 Enjoying them Jenny...Drystone walling and path laying was my job...I still do an odd wall now and again for peoples gardens but over the years it has given me Spinal Arthritis but I wouldn't have changed a thing...in fact Rob from Over the Hills has given me a lot of grief over the slab paths I helped lay over Kinder Scout...Just mention Brown Knoll to him cos its his worst ever place in the Peak District🤣...I know the paths look unsightly but it really is the only way to prevent erosion on the moors apart from closing the moors which nobody wants...Cheers Les.🙂👍

@lespickering5080 In my teenage years, being on a family holiday, Dovedale was having a pathway laid where it climbs up through the trees... I helped carry a bag of cement up 😆 Everyone who was walking there at the time was asked to carry what they could! 🤣 one way of getting a job done quickly! Once they're weathered in, I'm sure they'll blend in well enough. 👍

@@bumblejennybee88 Dovedale is beautiful but I tend to avoid it in summer for obvious reasons...So it was you that signed Jenny in the cement up that path...hooligan🤣

@lespickering5080 🤣 😆 There probably is an imprint of my stick!! We haven't done Dovedale for years now either because of the crowds. Robert and my dad once walked Dovedale in the dark years ago, and their torches packed up - they walked into a bunch of hippies dancing about. They couldn't decide if they were more scared of them or the dark 🤣 😂 We only walk, Beresford, Wolfscote, and Biggin Dale now - they're not too bad and are three of my favourites.

Nice vid...my name is Les and thought I would check out you channel as I have seen your comments on Rob and Stevens channels...I retired last month after working in the Peak District for 50 years and as a retirement project have decided to revisit all the towns and villages here using only my bus pass😂...my first love is music hence the name of my channel, also my family and my home in the Peak District...noticed you have got some PD walks on here which will be my pleasure to watch...it is also my pleasure to subscribe...I don't talk much on my vids cos can't stand the sound of my voice but used to on me and my sons channel which we used to have but cos of family and work we had to fold but those vids are on my Peak Memories playlist on my channel...Cheers Les🙂👍

Hi! Thanks so much for giving me a look and subscribing. I live in Norfolk - East Anglia but have had many, many holidays in the Peaks District from the age of 12! (So not that many, really, hahah) My parents loved it, and up until we lost my dad 4years ago, were holidaying there 3 times a year. It holds special memories for me. Me and Hubby Robert have always loved going on walks, but it was Covid that got us back into doing more (one good thing that came out of Covid at least!) My channel started as I'm always videoing and taking photos but family were never that interested in watching so thought I'd give youtube a go... it acts as a video library as well as letting other like-minded people find good places to visit. And now, after 20years, we've got back into camping! We also have a motorbike - I'm just pillion - so occasionally I'll put a video up of that. We have toured the Peaks on an earlier motorbike before me doing youtube. Thanks again for subscribing - I'll check out yours. I hope you enjoy looking through some of my videos. Oh, and you might've worked out, I am a huge lover of bees!! And nature in general! All the best, Jenny, 😊

@lespickering5080 Hahaha we had the same experience with camping over 20 years ago... totally flooded and also abandoned the tent! I said never again! Thankfully, tents have improved since then, and now we're hooked again! Happy New Year to you too ☺️

@@bumblejennybee88 🤣Tents might have improved but my thoughts on camping have not...I was in a panic last year when my wife wanted to buy another tent on Amazon cos my sons all love camping and she was willing to risk it again...Before she bought it we went on a walk and picnic in Goyt Valley and she sat very close to an ant's nest...She was quite badly bitten and this made her decide not to buy one...I love ant's😂😂😂
