For me, the first movement is taken a bit too slowly - the composer's speed indication is Allegro con brio

Even Yamaha would have allowed her to play that on the Schilke.

Always enjoy Olga kern playing Rachmaninov since first seeing her win The Van Cliburn in 2001. Now this. So overwhelmed by this performance of the Grieg Concerto......

What can you say about this beautiful performance, which demonstrates so well that beauty is in modulation--of force, volume, pacing, pitch, mode itself..

There are too many great piano concertos to say, which is the greatest. Each has its own greatness. I'm more Rach fan, so Rach 2nd and 3rd would always be near to my heart. I like Grieg's Piano Concerto as I do Chopin's Piano Concerto.

Nice work Bill! I very much like your conducting style!! Energetic and expressive while at the same time concise and clear. I remember you well from my Eastman days. We both studied piano there. Oddly enough, both of my children now live in Minneapolis, so maybe we'll bump into you there. Kerry Johnson

WOW! This has always been my favorite Concerto! I was introduced to Classical music while in the U. S. Navy! One of my favorite sailor friends invited me to his home for dinner and his wife played this very same masterful concerto on their baby grand Piano. I could not believe I was hearing this live in person as I only heard it on plastic, 78 rpm records on my grammar phone!

A wonderful piece of music and of course performance. Thank you for slowly but steadily making South African classical music available for the world to enjoy. It bothered me that I had to mostly always enjoy foreign orchestras when we have better at home. As a side note to being South African, we always strive to do and produce the best or be good at what we do (for us that means being the best or world leading) . This i can hear distinctly in the audio quality with so many channels that is being used so when I p[ay it it is as if I'm hearing it live. And of course, our Musicians, our Artists, our people who are born with music and a beat in our soul. if you listen but really listen, you hear something different, something more precise, something with depth and something that is rich, vibrant and and complex in the music that you rarely hear other than here. Well that is my experience at least. Thank you!
