Thanks Steve, these bikes are lots of fun especially seeing places you can’t really get too. I’ve been riding for a while but never did the dual sport thing. This bike particular the seats not bad but I do understand why people say dirt bikes can be uncomfortable. My biggest thing right now is riding shortly on the highway above 90km hour this bike likes to wobble with any wind, kinda freaky man. I’m trying to find a damper that I could use to put on it. I was reading lots of people find this bike likes to do that. Hope all is well man.

Looks like this one wood be best for the dirt tracks, up in the hills, as speed is kinda hard to attain out there. All is good here, and I am building a shiny new machine shop for the farm. Actually, it is for me, but I am claiming it is for the farm ;) .

A couple of years ago I bought a lathe and milling machine it’s so much fun when you can make something from nothing to something. It’s definitely one of those things were you can completely zone out and enjoy what your doing for the present time. This is another reason I got this bike too, go in the middle of nowhere and have a cup of coffee. New Zealand looks absolutely beautiful. Saw this video and thought I have to start doing this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWaTdoGPnLamaNUfeature=shared Awesome to hear about the machine shop man looking forward to see what you got going on Steve.

Our man caves have to be properly fitted out, if we are to zone out, and become one with our robot overlords. Now, of course, you have the ability to make more robot overlords, right there in the workshop ;) . That video looks great, and it does a fine job of reminding us of just how beautiful New Zealand is. Too often, we forget about this, as we participate in the rat race, down in the cities. No it’s gone man mainly was an experimental project of proof of concept. Some time again I may build a micro gasifier machine. But as for a working gas for generators there is a ton of cleaning involved. I think the more user friendly gas would be hydrogen, using solar energy.

Not sure if you are still doing anything with this now, but I read an interesting study that suggested using used cooking oil in place of water in a packed bed wet scrubber system with wood chips. The advantage being improved scrubbing efficiency and the fact that the filter material can then be used in the gassifier as a producer source, completely recycling the scrubber medium.
@Josefppaz
@Josefppaz 5 ай бұрын
Definitely interesting. I can see that would work pretty good. I’m guessing it would come down to cost. I liked what I used with antifreeze especially in the winter. I’m also thinken with oil will be a little more viscosity when cold and should need more of a suction for the gas to be vacuumed. Interesting to do some experimenting. When I did my test I know that these machines are very finicky with air fluid flow through the system. Thanks for sharing

I know this is an old video, but this idea works pretty darn well. I remember seeing somewhere on the Internet an old magazine article building a horseless carriage and they used water pipe with floor flanges to bolt on some flange style bearings, the driveshaft then floats inside the pipe. I've used it on an old golf cart that I converted to be chain driven but keep the leaf spring suspension.

Love what you are doing with the system. I have a million dollar question for you. Do you think it is possible to use a chamber to create bio-char ? I was also hoping when I do mine to incorporate 2 gas lines, one for generator and the other for feeding gas appliances. Thinking also of running some feet of copper for heating water. For me this gasifier is a game changer, no matter where you live can use one. Keep up the good work, look forward to hearing from you.
@Josefppaz
@Josefppaz Жыл бұрын
@@Don-sx5xv sorry for not getting back to you sooner. bio char maybe but the area being super heated is very little and creating char would very or if at all non existent. Don’t get me wrong you can still try and experiment. The problem with these gasification processes is if it is not hot enough produce a lot of tar in the system. Cleaning is the main problem and explosion risks are very high due to oxygen still present in the gas mixture. If you do run pipes clean the gas beforehand but the risks of your pipes exploding with a flash back may happen. It can be very dangerous. Mainly the gas is used for a engine generator. Interestingly when I did my experiments the BTU of the gas is very low. When I ran my engine for about 20 min the engine was warm to the touch but not extremely hot. Not sure if this was the wood I had at the time but was very interesting to see. If you make gasification I’m curious if you use the gas to heat up for cooking if it does get very hot for you. All the best

Hello sir, I read in the comments you took your gasifier apart. Were you able to harvest and gas for stoves lights? I am interested to hear if this would run a gas heater? To replace propane?
@Josefppaz
@Josefppaz Жыл бұрын
Hi Ricky interestingly I found when I ran my little engine for about 20 minutes, the engine ran very cool to the touch. I wonder if this wood gas has less BTU for heat, mind you it was a cold day. As far as harvesting the gas I haven’t tried it. I would be very cautious even to try. The gas still has lots of oxygen going through the system, would be interesting to have a oxygen meter present to see. I have seen people wanting to compress the gas but I am not an expert on doing so. I find it can be very dangerous but it’s a different story if you know what you can do. As far as getting rid of the oxygen present in the gas I think there could be ways but lots of work. This type of gas is great for running a generator for a heater, but to replace propane that’s a good question. Best way to see how much carbon dioxide is present with wood gas maybe to measure with some gas meter. Unfortunately something i never tried. If the heater was in a garage I would rather heat it up with a rocket stove. Sorry could help much Ricky.
