Ok, you're gonna make me rehash this. I'm starting a new reply so everyone can read these notes. First off, we are tied for 4th in a 10 year span for ACC wins and that was with Louisville. Not 3rd as mentioned. One more win than VT and 2 more than UNC. HOWEVER, since this was a 12 year grade and I think you look at a mans' entire tenure, State falls to 8th. EIGHTH! That is 2 behind Louisville, who didn't even play in the ACC in 2013(DD first year) and only 1 win above GT. Although DD went 0-8 in acc that first year anyways, our first winless ACC season since 1959. Second, you say he has raised the ceiling and the floor, has he? His 12 yr acc record is 47-51. his 10 yr is 44-38. So the 10 year equates to about a 4.5 wins in acc and you say we now should win 8-9 every year. So padding with 3-4 cupcakes is reason for bumping to a B? Even those cupcake wins are suspect as we saw this year. Even those he can't win significantly. I don't really bet over/unders but I do follow them and I would wager serious money he hasn't covered more than 25% of the overs in all his games. Statistically that shouldn't happen over 150+ games. He can't put his foot on the gas as Kenton said. Third, I agree he does more with less, when it comes to player development, but he does less with more when you look at results on the field. For as many players we have put in the NFL, what has he done with them. 6-6 against Wake, 1-3 against Duke, 3-3 against ECU. I think most everyone here would agree we should be better than all three of those teams in general with the talent we usually have. 2021 should have been our best year and he blew that with bad coaching. The utter shambles at Miss St. Letting Miami Van Dyke march up and down at will playing what looked like prevent the 2nd half. And the creme-de-la-creme loss at Wake were we racked up a gazillion game killing penalties. All the teams above us have replaced their coaches except Dabo of course. I love listening to you both everyday but I think you got a hold of some wacky weed when you decided to give him a B. He's great at taking 2-3 star players and coaching them up, but his game plans are horrendous. Other than the 2021 Clemson win and 2017 FSU win, where are the big time wins? Possibly the 2017 win over Lamar Jackson. He's 7-26 against top 25. Granted the 2021 win over UNC, 2-TD by EE in the last 1:30 was by far the most exciting. I think the comment that Kenton has been making says it all, when you expect the least you get the best and when you expect greatness we are only let down. That is no way to run a program. I see us at 5-7 next year and sadly the Tarheels got rid of their biggest stumbling block(Mack) and get us this year. Hopefully then Boo pulls the trigger. A "C" at best. No better until he at least gets a 10-win season. There are only three teams that haven't gotten 10 wins since DD got here, State, BC and UVA(not including the three new teams, although SMU did this year as well). And only four that haven't made a championship game appearance; State, BC, Syracuse and UVA. SMU made it year one, seriously? Is this the company we want to be keeping?? C, say it with me Grayson, C.😆 I took the liberty of compiling the stats on a google sheet and posted it here for anyone who wants to see. Hopefully it works. The funny thing looking at these on one sheet is looking at FSU. In the 12-yr they are 8th place but the 10-yr they are 2nd, simply because those 2 in between years they went 8-0 each year. Although that still includes 2024 when they were 1-7. Talk about boom or bust! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v966gt6S9OVbvCFhackDIGSsiqjAv1_U/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=101773440943898043606&rtpof=true&sd=true

How? He's raised the ceiling & floor of the program, he's finished seasons in the AP Poll multiple times, 3rd most ACC Wins in the last 10 years, All-Time Wins leader at NC State, is that not worth a B? I'm not saying we should worship the man and build him a statue, but let's be realistic here. He's pretty much done a better job than any other coach in school history, WHILE still having disappointing games/seasons. 10 Win seasons and Championship appearences allude him, so he can't get an A. But a B isn't reasonable? Cmon

You guys are way too generous with your grades! I wish you were my professors at State! C is average and that is what we are.... average. Losing records in the conference, bowl games and games vs top 25 teams. We should finish each season in the top 25. That's a reasonable expectation. But I feel now with NIL and much deeper pockets elsewhere, we will become a developmental team for wealthier programs. Dave had his chance and he just couldn't do it. Seems we've kept the wrong coach and let the right ones leave....Drink, Diaz, cignetti to name a few. Mediocre at best with infrequent flashes of potential greatness.

We've been above average though. Finished the year ranked a handful of times, 3rd most ACC wins in the last 10 years, a couple of top defenses.... I'm not saying Doeren has done a phenomenal job and we should build a statue, but he's been better than just average. Both are true.

@LockedOnWolfpack top defenses ranking is grasping at straws, is that even a real stat?....3rd most acc wins in 10 years and still a losing record. Is that for a program or for a tenured coach? Stay somewhere long enough and that is bound to happen....and a handful of years end ranked teams ...name them that's less than half his tenure. You can twist stats all you want but at the end of the day, in the words of the great chuck the chest stats are for losers. We are no closer to an acc championship now than when he started. Heck, Wake has an acc championship. That's embarrassing anyway you look at it. He is average. Like PR, PW covered a multitude of shortcomings. Even in his best season...9 wins....that gets you fired at real programs.

Would it be possible for the ACC to swoop up a lot of big name teams and combine say the Big East and maybe one other conference and create a mega conference and change the name? Its only a matter of time before we have mega conferences, look at the Big 10 which is now the Big 18. I envision and predict that once we have our mega conferences they will be geographically based which increases the value of a rivalary. Take Texas for example leaving to go to the SEC, what once was a big time rivalary game between Texas and Oklahoma now just feels like another game between two good schools. Do you think it would be possible for the ACC to jump the gun and create this mega conference with some other Division 1 conferences and teams to create this East Coast giant conference?

@@LockedOnWolfpack I definitley think UCONN would be an absolute top priority, as they beat UNC last year, but are almost always in contention for a National Championship in MBB. Alongside them, I think you add Providence, Seton Hall, Creighton, and Marquette. Basketball is huge for those schools, and I think if you add them to our conference you bring on that basketball spotlight, especially for the ACC Network. I definitely think that there is an argument to be made for adding more schools to the conference, not just from the Big East but from some more southern schools as well. Eventually if you drum up enough interest to make a mega conference and how each university gets a cut, I think you'd have schools jumping at the bit to want to try and join. Think of it like a mega SEC conference, except double or maybe even triple the amount of schools, everyone wants to jump to the SEC because of money, but because of the talent that they have in most of their mens sports and sports in general, other smaller schools are excluded because of this reason, let alone the talent they bring to the table.

MOC’s gotten worse, Jayden Taylor is stagnant, poor Breon can’t get on the court for some unknown reason, and DPJ is good but only in flashes. Then we have B2H who looks like he forgot almost everything he knew about basketball somewhere on his trip from Louisville to Raleigh. Our best player is a 6’4 guard who, understandably, can’t rebound worth a damn, and EVERYONE sucks at free throws. (Seriously, I’ve never seen this many college guards all be this bad at free throws.) It’s one giant clusterf***. Honestly, 9-11 seems like an overachievement thus far. Okay, rant over. 😅

Expectations bring pressure but also can heighten effort to live up to it. Nobody likes not living up to what's expected of you.

Just ask NC State Football how that felt this past year

Personally, I’m glad that the schedule is back loaded. Gives us a chance to figure it out early and hopefully have our offense clicking by midseason. Weapons should be good and our OL always picks it up late, IMO.

Feel that for sure. Get hot, stay hot. They'll certainly have their chances to make something of the season

From a strictly football standpoint having ND in the ACC strenthens the conference and could guarantee the ACC 2 CFP teams season after season.

Just irks me that Notre Dame is sooooo elitist that they get to have their cake and eat it too. While the ACC goes back into the kitchen to feed them seconds

The best way to get ND join full time is have 2 ACC teams make the playoffs and ND get left out. Can make the case then if ND was a full time member they could at least make it to playoffs w/ ACC title game win.

ND is NEVER joining a conference. Not only do they have that sweet NBC money, they don't have to share playoff money with a conference which every other team does.
