One may end up w/gout on another way: When I was about 55, I developed a form of bone marrow cancer so I'll be on oral chemo for life. Alas, one of the secondary effects is gout. I'm overweight & have mild hypertension (controlled) but no diabetes. I was put on meds for the gout, but those have even more secondary effects than the chemo! I read about tart cherry as a treatment & found it in pill form. It's worked great & I went from horrible cramps that lasted minutes, several times a day, to maybe twice a week for a few seconds. Was also able to reduce the amount of anti-gout meds. Hope this helps any of you too.

So the easiest way is get on meds. really!? Where is common sense and self discipline then? If something is harmful we need to avoid it by not consuming.

Scares me that I have the sweating, the itching, the tiredness. I am fat as hell, and unless ALL lymph nodes gets swollen, it'd take years to notice. Hopefully the doctors will catch it if this is what is making me tired, since we are looking for a cause.

The FDA is useless to protect Americans' food. In Europe I can eat everything and feel well. Corporate greed knows no barriers.

This is a really good video making things easy to understand. A couple things that are missing - genetic dispositions do not necessarily mean you will have genetic expression. Aside from diet and exercise, Lifestyle behaviors, environment/toxins, and stress all contribute to epigenetic expressions. Additionally, chronic stress and inflammation (multifactorial) can also impact lipid profiles, metabolic function, hormone regulation, and other biomarkers. Great vid! Let’s break the old stories and learn really what keeps us sick.

Fortunately I identify as a woman, so that risk factor is modifiable. Now to address the risk differential for Caucasian versus African and the fact that race is a social construct.

Great information ❤ The only recommandation I would disagree with are whole grains and fruits. Get off of them in order to give the pancreas a break and instead focus on healthy fats and proteins❤❤❤

Take it from someone who's cut almost all added sugars out of his diet: once it's done, it feels amazing, and added sugars start looking more disgusting than tasty.

1:40 people on a ketogenic diet can easily have LDL higher than 190. As high as 500 actually; as a recent study has actually shown. (Lean-Mass Hyper Responder, Matthew Budoff, Dave Feldman, Et al., published in JACC Advances). And this is not necessarily dangerous for them. Most people are on a high carb lifestyle and these individuals exhibit lower LDL. Google “Oreo Cookie Treatment Lowers LDL Cholesterol “. All animals, humans included, have LDL. Yet humans, have an LDL that is detrimental to their health??? Can you hear how crazy this sounds? When are we going to stop the LDL demonization insanity?

2:33 with 100 LDL we are guaranteed to be prescribed statin??? Well not in NL. My LDL was 145 and I was asked to pay attention to what I eat (I was already exercising), which I did, consequently my LDL went down to 100. The doc was impressed and said he is no longer worried, next check is in a year.

Selling fear. One is willing to trade away freedom for security only to a point. Because you find out when you trade away too much, you lose both freedom and security. . Likewise. When you trade away your life for the fear of "what if". Something still comes along the way that takes that life you never lived to begin with. There's always a scale to things such as this. . When one becomes obsessed with a finite life constantly trying to avoid whatever boogeyman you have created in your own mind, watch out. . Because there are many boogeyman watching you don't see at all. .

I started with weird health problems in 2004. No doctors believed me or would help me and even called ne a drug seeking junkie. I had many of these symptoms but I quit going to Doctor's in 2010. I too had profuse night sweats and swollen lymph nodes chronic pain and chronic fatigue. If I live I live and if I die I die. I'm done with doctors that don't take me seriously. I'd rather suffer in silence at this point.

Just getting over gout for the first time. I am 58 and run, bike, swim, lift weights. Low blood pressure. Don’t drink beer or wine. Don’t eat seafood, asparagus, spinach and cauliflower. Resting HR around 40BPM. drink lots of water. Low body fat but healthy range. Don’t eat much sugar. I guess the only thing I can do is start drinking black coffee, drink celery juice and eat cherries. In 3 months after Uric Acid levels normalize I’ll go and get a Uric Acid level test just to make sure all is good.
