The dispersion from the west and Canada occurs far more often than is documented. Evidence for small population pockets is pretty strong. If you look at the sightings from West VA up to Erie PA there is what appears to be a wildlife corridor along the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers. This mirrors examples of corridors such as the one along the Florida "spine." It is also likely that there is a corridor branch along the Ohio river.

Well, there is a subspecies down in Florida, so technically there ARE cougars in the East. Otherwise, they ain’t here.

In 2011, about two weeks before the male cougar was killed in CT, I was travelling south on I-87 near Keesville, in between Exits 34 and 33. A tan cat ran across the southbound lanes, near the Keesville American Legion baseball field, and I said to my co-worker in the car, "Did you see that?" It was about 200 yards ahead of us, and the black tip of the tail was plainly visible. He said, "That was a mountain lion." Then we hear about the young male cougar being killed in Milford two weeks later ... I think it was the same cat.

Despite mountain lions being filmed, and deer kills being found with the tell tail signs of a mountain lion kill, Rhode Island DEM tells us they are not here. Our deer population is massive. Where there is prey there will always be predators.

Hancock county in N.E. Tennessee. I have seen cat prints in mud that are as wide as my fist, AND, I have come across a deer carcass draped over a tree branch 10 foot above the ground. If this cat was "passing through" he's been doing it for years.

I had a Cougar come into our backyard in 1991 just at dusk, which at the time was in a subdivision at the edge of the Smoky Mountains in East TN, an edge now that is about five miles further east as subdivisions continue to develop. We still have Bobcats regularly, but I certainly know the difference between the two cats. The Cougar was simply majestic.

A bobcat is the size of a very young juvenile cougar , so mistaking a bobcat for a cougar would be HIGHLY unikely

I want to believe, REALLY i do. But where are the bodies, skeletons, photos? Every time i see “proof”, i see a fuzzy, pixelated, mostly distant photo of something that may or may not resemble an actual cougar. Now with that said, I’ve got a few of close friends and relatives who are 1000% certain they’ve confirmed sightings. The deetz are as follows 1. A Hudson Valley farmer and close friend of mine, has seen a cougar on a few occasions in his 50+ years. His farm has been in the family for generations, well over 125 years. His father and grandfather say the same. 2. A close friend of mine, a cop and avid outdoorsman in Northwest NJ, is certain he saw a cougar walk across the road close to High Point State Park, close the confluence of NY/NJ/PA border. 3. My cousin who has a home just outside Blowing Rock, NC, swears he saw a puma while taking a leisurely ride through the woods on his side-by-side. When I asked him if he could have possibly mistaken it for a bobcat, his answer seemed pretty convincing…..”Not unless a bobcat is the size of Zeus (his Great Dane). “ 😮 While I trust these people, and have never had a reason to NOT believe them, I’ll wait for the high def trail cam footage that is legitimate. Sooooo many hunters with trail cams, and pixelated, fuzzy, distorted, and distant Sasquatch photos and videos is all we get? 🤔

Hidden? They've always been there! As whitetail populations increase cougar populations follow suit. In the 70's a pair of black ones strolled out of the woods into my grandmothers backyard and hung out sunning themselves for a good half hour. We watched them from inside the house from <15-yards away. This was in Pope County IL. Since then I know of 4 that have been killed in the area. About 5-trs ago My neighbors donkey was attacked by a FL Panther in Brevard County FL, he has video from a security camera. My neighbor 2 doors down has video of one in his backyard, that happened around the same time as the donkey attack.

They have always been here in the Appalachian mountains, the so called experts have become so arrogant they disbelieve the people who are here. Hunting regulations require hunters to positively identify the weight and sex of bears and the number of antler points on a deer before harvesting the animal, and then turn around and tell us we have misidentified a damn cougar when we see one!

Back in the early 2000s Me and my lead guide for my Whitewater company were taking my motorcycle to be Fixed to Hickory N.C. We got on the Blues Ridge Parkway on Roseboro Rd. Just southwest of the Linn Cove Viaduct. Before we made it to the Viaduct a mountain line walked slowly across the road .I had to bring my truck to a stop to not hit it .y friend was on his phone and yelled loudly into his phone. This was not a mistaken identity. The second this thing got into the Rhododendron it was gone. Like a ghost We looked at each other dumbfounded. I have seen bobcats in the Mountains quite often. I lived on Hawshaw MTN in Crossnore. One was almost black and some quite light in color. What we saw was a mountain line it's tail was real long and yes I know And have seen bobcats with tails one I saw had a two foot tail. I called the Ranger service after we got home from Hickory. They basically patted me on the head and stated they do not exist in N.C. so their either liars or clueless what is in the mountains. I owned a ski shop and called a good friend who lived down Roseboro road on Wilson's creek. He told me he had never seen one but many of his neighbor's had. He told me of a Christmas tree farm where they hang their supplies up on ropes 7 feet off the ground to keep a pair out of eating fertilizers and his neighbor swore he saw it laying on a grass Rd on his property and with it's tail was at least 8 feet long. This was about 2003 or 2004 . I feel fortunate to see it. If the speed limit was more than 40 on the parkway I might of hit it because it never speded up just disappeared into his lair.

My father and I saw one cross the interstate in the mountains of New Hampshire, maybe ten minutes north of Plymouth, it was about 10 p.m. this was back in 1981-82. From nose to tip of tail was 3/4 the width of a driving lane.

I live here in Michigan and Ive talked to dnr officers. According to them, there is a sizable cougar population in Michigan but most stick to themselves in the UP and there are a couple in mid Michigan but typically don’t go further south. I live just west of Grayling but have never seen anything but apparently they live out there.

The huge cat tracks are unmistakable. They also say the huge coal black cats we see don`t exist. The last one I saw was near the backwater of the Sabine River in DeSoto Parish, La about 5 miles below Logansport in 1990. It ran across a wide dirt road about 15 to 17 feet away one evening before sunset while I was riding an ATV. It was a very large cat much larger than a deer hound and from a side profile it had the same shape as a Mountain Lion except the color and I saw its shiny black fur in the sunshine, so. The locals told me I probably see them in that area and at least 3 others saw what was likely the same cat afterwards in the same area and I found dozens of large tracks in muddy washes in the pine sapling clearing it ran into. I know how to identify cat tracks and I know the size of Bobcat tracks and Bobcats because I had a rescued female at that time that I was helping to adjust to living in the wild. I grew up in the outdoors like most did in the 60s/70s/80s here. We`ve seen Mountain Lions in Louisiana too. My sister saw one here in LaSalle Parish near Catahoula Lake and my other sister and I saw two of the big black cats wrestling in the road near our home several miles from here in 1969. My sister said the Mountain Lion she saw looked sickly and very skinny. I`ve seen them run across the roads when I was traveling a lot in bands in the 90s. I think the "experts" have finally accepted the fact that they`re here because of a few confirmed sightings. But not the big black cats.

As for my family we had a mountain lion aka Cougar family sighting in 2009 in Greenwich New York that to this day despite us killing both the father and the mother in self-defense the state of New York refuses to admit that mountain lions aka Cougars are able to survive and breed in New York. My family still has both the mother and the father mounted on a wall and to this day we have no idea what happened to all 4 of the young cubs.

Perhaps because of the fact that I've always lived near the Canadian border I've tried to research dispersing individuals coming south from there, but have had little success. We seem sold on these guys respecting international borders and I'm not sure thats the case. Any info would be great.
