Dave , you have probably told us why before, but why do you use that tiny hammer to bang in your nails..

Regarding the door latch: you did it exactly how I would have done it - but I thought YOU would just rebend the latch so it would fit flush on the door. Well within your wheel house. However; once it was done I think it looks better with the wood spacer. Go figure. :^)

I went looking for what could hang on those hooks and I found 3 hits. One was a table, another was a tall narrow..... Chuck box maybe had drawers and cubbies. The front of course was the table. The third was just a sloped top box. Enjoyed the video. 😃

That unknown iron with the spare hole reminds me of a type of hinge. Was there one on the other side?

Why not use the odd hole in the latch to loop a piece of wire thru with a pin for the latch. A string or chain would work also but a piece of rusty barb wire fits the era

And if we are dealing with a Basque sheepherder...I don't think he would be having Scandinavian soft goods in his wagon. I would think an old pieced wool comforter might be more appropriate.

Your press makes me green with envy. At my age I'm beginning to think about getting rid of tools instead of buying more. My press has always been the bench vice or the hammer and anvil... David your intuition is amazing. The gear works and the adjustments that have been necessary to make that ole spreader function.
