I'm late 50s. Intermittent fasting plus the usual advice for a healthy diet works for me. Lost over 50 pounds and kept it off for over 10 years. I think the key to successful fasting is to identify periods of time that you can withdraw from social distractions. Meeting with people usually means there will be food offered, or at the center of a table while talking. Don't let other people derail a fast - make it a priority.

I have always said that when I do intermittent fasting I still have to monitor my intake because I can still do a lot of damage in my 'window'. The key for me is that it allows me to not worry about a meal and allows me to eat less calories.

Intermittent fasting worked for me until I developed POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). My body can no longer tolerate it.

How was your sleep with low carb? I have insomnia when I cut carbs 😢

@Lycashines I haven’t seen a difference with my sleep since I’ve been cutting carbs. But my sleep has been good off and on since I started menopause for sure!

Great video ❤ new subscriber here 😊 IF doesn’t work for me too. It used to work when I was younger but not now I am almost 49 in the pre menopause. It increases my cortisol 😫

I agree! A lot of things used to work for me that don’t now. I’m glad I finally found this way of eating!

It’s great that you’ve worked out what’s the best for your body👍🏾 As someone who has been struggling with weight gain, and trying Intermittent Fasting, I’ve finally worked out that I need to eat to suit my body. I still do IF but the hours that suit me. Praying and fasting (to humble myself before God - not IF) plus Intermittent Fasting and recognising what “junk foods” I can and can’t eat is helping me shift the weight👏🏾 God bless you🇬🇧

Keto doesn't sound like it's working for you at all if you keep having cheat meals and going off the diet. Keto isn't better than any other diet and you are already counting calories so might as well have what you like sustainably in your calorie deficit cause that's how you lose weight, by being in a deficit. Carbs hold water, the more carbs you eat the more you'll see it on the scale after a carb heavy meal but that's just water weight which will fall off you didn't actually gain weight. Keto is good but it's not sustainable and you can still lose weight while eating carbs and feel just as good. Heavy restriction doesn't work long term.

I'll have the dark chocolate but only if it's Belgian. 😋

If you get rid of other sugars and sweet foods in your diet, you will find that the higher percentage cocoa tastes better. Once you quit sugar anything sweet tastes waaaay too sweet, and you taste the flavour of the chocolate more. That's been my experience anyway.

@WendyDewarHughes thank you! My morning mochas probably didn't help that for me. I keep them low sugar but there is "some" sugar in them. :)

@@femalefitandfifty I'm not a morning coffee person, but have found that any sugar or sweet/carb foods in the morning will make me hungrier for most of the day.
@femalefitandfifty
@femalefitandfifty 22 күн бұрын
I’ve noticed that too. When I cycle up on fibrous carbs, I “feel” hungrier throughout the day. That’s one thing I really like about the keto plan. Better appetite suppression.

Doesn’t Lily’s have erythritol? Hard for some of us to digest, like me. The Ghirardelli dark chocolate does not cause any problems.

@lanazak773 yes the Lily's dark chocolate and peanut butter cups do have erythritol. It hasn't bothered me, but my husband didn't feel good afterwards (note though, he did eat an entire candy bar and I usually only eat a couple of small squares). My youngest daughter also said she didn't feel well. I guess I got luck. I believe the Lily's chocolate baking chips have stevia. I was interested in trying those to see how they tasted too.

51-year-old male. Trying to lose 10-15. Am plateauing around six lbs. after four weeks. Grass-fed beef, half lb. per meal, with mild Siete taco seasoning mixed into a package of organic riced cauliflower is a great weight loss/keto meal.

Hi Susanne! I think your tips really made sense and seems really doable. I'll start trying this out as well. I'm 21, gained weight because of inactivity after i broke my leg last November. Somehow i feel like losing weight is one of the hardest achievement for me ahahha. Looking forward to more videos and tips in the future!

Sounds logical. I'm an emotional eater. Total sugar addict. Heart issues run in my family and at 43 I already feel tightness there at times and it scares me. I could definitely lose 15 pounds but cutting the junk...while not restricting it altogether and only allowing myself to eat when I feel truly hungry is a good plan. I've just never been good with balance. I've always been an extreme person. I don't know why. 😕 This can be good and very bad. 🙃Thanks for sharing. 😊
