I'm with you here but I have about 60 lbs to lose I'm 50 and type 2 diabetic and I find that I have the best results going very low carb high protein which is a challenge because I'm pescatarian but mostly vegetarian. It was so depressing because I got norovirus and only lost 1 lb after hardly eating anything for a week LOL such as being 50😅

I've started keto. It's only been four days, but I'm already less bloated! I'm going all in! I started this because of bad reflux, and I found some videos with Dr. Sten Ekberg. His YT channel has been my primary source for what to eat and what not to eat! I just wish I'd known all this sooner.

Sweetie, you’re going about this the wrong way. If you are going to follow 1000kc/day, you must REVERSE your plan to 70% PROTEIN and BUMP UP YOUR SALT OR YOU WILL BE CONSTIPATED and lose PRECIOUS SKELETAL MUSCLE! If you stick to 1000kc per day, you will LOSE MORE than 1lb. Lastly, stop with this “cheat meal” mentality. If you eat 1000 calories a day, your body will be FORCED to burn fat even if that 1000 calories come from PIZZA. However, you want to give your body nutrients.

I lost 100 lbs in 1,5 years whit keto. I actually have two appartments in different cities. In other i live whit my kids and i never had problem that they eat carb based diet. They also have treats like candy, chocolate, chips, cookies and sodas. Other appartment is for me as i work in other city. Here i don´t have carbs except sugar that is left over when i started keto. Other carbs i gave to my mother. I usually cook my meals keto for myself and carb based to my kids. But even that they haven´t started keto at least yet, i´ve inspired few friends and relatives to give a try. Everyone have got great results.

In your first year did you have to still cook low carb/keto for your family? If so do you have a workaround for that? We have three kids and I do the menu, the shop, and the cooking and it’s difficult at times. My husband is super supportive and helps when he can. But he works so long and hard I try not to lean too heavy on his help. So it is still a struggle over here. 🤷🏽♀️
@femalefitandfifty21 күн бұрын
Hi Lexie, good question. In the beginning, my family was still eating the same things they always have. My kids are older teens and so they had been cooking their own foods mostly. If we ate out, we would all choose our items and I would just modify what I was eating, for example I would get a burger like them but throw the bun away. Now we cook the same foods because that's all we have in the house.

I've been maintaining a 70lb loss since I was 52. I'm now 69. And I live with a junk food/sweet eater. Life would have been much easier without those foods in the house, but then, I wouldn't have had a happy husband. I've learned to have HB eggs, hamburger patties, bacon, a low calorie protein creami, and other options available at all times. It can be done!

I like your honesty and realistic approach! For me, I'm 50, not menopausal yet, and I have a good weight for my height but just have very stubborn fat around my belly area. I did lose some weight recently which I am very happy about. For me, I think food preparation helps the most. For example preparing healthy snacks instead of unhealthy ones, pre cooking whole grains and other good options in the morning. (I probably still should eat even less carbs in general.) So having healthier alternatives ready to eat does help a lot. What I find difficult is that there are always unhealthy options in our house, as I have a family and they just buy whatever they like. But when I have my own food prepared it definitely helps.

That's weird. I do 24 hrs intermittent Fasting, it's been more than 3 weeks, I did eat less to make sure I was in calorie deficit, I did brisk walk daily (12 to 15k steps), I also didn't hold back on fast foods once a week during these 3 weeks and I managed to lose 6 kilos. So I guess everyone's body is different

If you eat the vegetables first, you will not have a high glucose spike and then a glucose low. Thats the reason why you will not feel hungry soon. Look at he Glucose Revolution by Jessie Inchauspe. She explains what happens.

I actually lost almost 40 lbs about 10 years ago, and have slowly put it, plus, back on. I had already stopped buying pop for the house and was drinking very watered down crystal light beverages during the day. I did ok until I discovered a slushy beverage at a convenience store that we visited often, and that unfortunately restarted my addiction to sweets. I was taking all kinds of different supplements, drinks, and what have you, to lose the weight. And without support and or cooperation from the hubs I just gave up, and once I stopped, I was unable to maintain the weight, it just started creeping up and up until I was passed my original weight. I seen a video a few months ago about insulin resistance and it got me thinking that if there was a time to get serious about the potential I had of getting diabetes, it was now. My mom had type 2 diabetes, and although I have been hypoglycemic since I was young, I knew some day it was going to be an issue I needed to confront. So I started looking for alternatives to flavoring my water so that I would be more satisfied with getting the water in without the added sugars that were keeping my insulin levels from dropping thru out the day, which I realized was keeping my body from using my fat as energy. So I found this stuff www.amazon.com/dp/B00CML0MVW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title and I lost over 10 lbs in about a month by just adding this to my water rather than a pkt of crystal light. I drink roughly a gallon of water a day, usually less. Can't say for certain how much I lost as I hadn't weighed myself in a while. Last I can recall it was 262. I could feel that my clothes were getting looser, but the batteries were dead on our scale so I just wasn't checking. So romeprazole ever since. And I had also considered that I may have candidiasis due to the influx of bad processed carbs that I ate over the years. Trust me when I say I honestly didn't think I could give up my carbs again. But we started almost 5 weeks ago and although there have been days that I have wanted a pop tart, or a donut, I didn't cave, and mostly because of how satiated I felt from the meals. For the first few days, I would have to force myself to eat 3 meals. I would try and wait close to noon to eat breakfast, just to give myself more of a fasting time, but then I wouldn't want to eat again until like 8 at night. My hubs works midnights, so it's not so bad for him, but harder for me, so I realized, I needed to make my breakfast lighter so that I was able to be hungry sooner in the evenings. Which I have accomplished, but it's still not feasible to eat again before bed, which I am certain that is not a good thing. So the diet requires you to consume 3 cups of plain greek yogurt a day. So what I have decided to do, is make my shake my last meal. With the diet you are able to add more foods as the weeks go by, so I am at a place where I can have popcorn and nuts, so usually it's a shake that consists of the yogurt, eggs, extract flavorings and ice. So it's basically a meal if I eat a bowl of popcorn with it, or a few tablespoons of sunflower seeds. So my first weigh in was the night of the first day, and I weighed in at 250, and at first it was just less and less, but now I find I am fluctuating between 237 and 240. I have been trying to notice my inconsistencies, where I might get hungry or bored so I eat a couple tablespoons of nuts, or a bowl of popcorn and I am certain that the "snacks" in between meals my be what's the culprit. Do you think any of the weight gain can be attributed to pre. menopause? Because that's where I am at and wondering if this might be harder until I am over the hill of "womb.an hood." I appreciate you sharing your struggle, as I can relate, and I will be subscribing to your channel and following your journey.

I agree when you say that when you are on carbs you crave more carbs. That's because they burn faster. I will eat 4 eggs fried in a tablespoon of butter in the morning, no toast, and won't feel hungry until noon. Fats are longer lasting and more satisfying, hunger pains are less.

I really like your video. I agree with your approach. I started keto about 5 years ago and lost 35 LBS and kept if off for a long time. Then I joined a gym and got a trainer and they wanted me to decrease my fats and increase my proteins and carbs. I was focusing on my body fat percentage (BF%) and progress was slow, though going in the right direction. They kept pressuring me to increase increase protein and carbs and decreasing fats. I finally relented and weight and BF% went up. It was a big mistake. I started working on keto and things got better.

I did Keto four years ago and although I lost a bit of weight (extremely slowly), I ultimately failed because I was using stevia, monk fruit, etc. I recently read Dr. Jason Fung's book "The Obesity Code," and found out that you shouldn't do that as it still raises your insulin levels. I'm starting over and not using any sweeteners at all. I've lost five pounds (water weight, of course) in a week and hoping to lose 25 more. Perimenopause isn't fun. Edited to add: I'm also doing intermittent fasting and not snacking.
