At the 50 minute mark - some of the best advice is given: it’s exactly how I teach students drawing, painting sculpting etc. Art builds on art - and it has for centuries

My husband carves the Greenman in wood. I envy his skill and now, after seeing your video, I'm thinking of quilting a Greenman using one of my husband's sketches. Probably best if I make a simple sewing machine cover first, then if it does not go well only I will see it LOL.

Tim, your work is amazing! Would you ever consider showing the bag making process from quilted front and back to sewing the bag together? I'd love to see how you do the lining, pockets, straps and zipper. That would be so helpful. I love what you said about copying someone's design to learn and then branching out to do your own designs. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise with others.

I'd love to see the video include your foot motion! I've never used a treadle but would love to. I have a Model 66 from 1924 that was motorized at one time. I'm hoping to find a treadle base that would fit it. Do you ever use gloves to quilt with? I've heard it helps move the fabric around. Jan in MA

You are absolutely amazing and I love your work! Thank you so much for sharing your projects with us. I hope to see and learn a lot more from you. Where did you get the green man face design? Do you have any tips for tension, both upper and lower?
@TimLatimerquilts7 жыл бұрын
I dont mess with the bottom tension....I try to do all the adjusting on the top, and it usually requires a lot tighter top tension than normal stitching (all machines are different but for this machine). I have the thread on a cone stand rather than a spool on the spool pin....the thread comes off of the top on the cone stand and goes across to the thread pin where i wrap the thread around the pin a few times .....then finish threading as usual ...... that add the tension to the thread that would be there if I was using a spool of thread rather than a cone

Thank you for sharing your incredible talents with us. I, too, used to be a hand quilting purist, but it isn't practical and there is no way one could possibly create the number of projects that you desire to do just by hand. Plus, I agree with you that machine quilting is every bit as creative and "handmade" but just using a different method to achieve a customized end product.

Thanks . I did nothing but hand quilting for 10 years, I even won an AQS award for best hand workmanship, but my hands just can't do it anymore, and machine quilting (now that I know how to do it) is just as rewarding for me.
