I test rode one today at Boyd's Motorcycles, this bike is amazing! So nice to use it in automatic through town, so easy, and great to not having to feather the clutch in slow traffic! The auto works really well, I'm sold! Having auto and manual is the best of both worlds. I'm buying one.

Great bike,but I wish it still had option of manual clutch and shift ability.? Why? We'll just like my Honda cbr650r E clutch bike, I can over ride e clutch and manually clutch and shift especially if the computer has a glitch,problem with software,etc the whole is not down ,just the e clutch method,..However, Yamaha only has computer program too operate shift and clutch, no shifter or clutch handle to manually operate bike so essentially the bike is down till computer is fix , but Honda still allows you too ride manually if computer has a problem.

Very well presented, I don’t like the situation where you go round a small roundabout in 2 and could go into first gear especially in the UK when the weather is wet and slippery in winter and the roads are in poor condition Good the good work up👏👍

a great a honest review . the pros and cons are the same i noticed, i own one ,and i love it. its a living bike,with a montrous motor, good brakes for the weight. it vibrates,it roars, i was on japanese roadster before and i dont regret it now ( even if i loved it) .i changed the foot pegs ,added a 2" riser to be more traight , ends cuio saddlebags, rebuilt the seat to be more comfy, reduced the size of the silencers,to loose some weight and nicer look, need a lawless crash bars and adjustables levers,and i ll consider it complete for me.

I put 70,000 miles on a Honda NC auto. You never had to go into manual to drop a gear. Simply thumb the down button.

No clutch is very nice. Wonder how it works in 8 figures or between trafic since DCT is lagging in this manner in relatiin to regular shifting.

Love my africa twin dct. Lots of stop and go on my comute. I took a manual bike to work today, and it made me appreciate the dct. This bike seems interesting though. Ive already been drooling over the mt09, and this addition could be icing on the cake.
@lawrencemercieca2 ай бұрын
This is a great innovation I’m very confused why they chose the MT09 though I think this’ll be perfect for commuters, and although I commute on an 09SP, most people take smaller bikes I would’ve expected the 07 to be much better suited to it
@richardcerritelli9657Ай бұрын
I totally disagree they should have this option on every bike I'd love to see the mt-10 get it I hate clutch bikes personally I want an automatic and I have a GSXR Hayabusa I'm tired of shifting gears I want a super bike with an automatic when it comes out I'm going to grab it I believe there is a market for it.

Might sound daft but I would love to see the XSR & MT 125cc with a automatic box as these are made for city riding and as we all know city riding is up and down the gear box constantly so a automatic box on these and other small cc bikes would be good idea

The only reason I’d ride an auto sports bike is if my left foot didn’t work. The Africa twin and goldwing are better in DCT tho

What happens when it fails as all things eventually do especially electronic things and especially electronic things on the MT range? How does the rider overcome a failure and limp the bike home? That's presuming you were able to peel yourself off the armco... I haven't seen a single bike journalist cover the most obvious issue with these bikes. This isn't like a car's automatic transmission where failure won't kill you. This is a bike. This transmission is still the manual one just one that's electronically actuated so a failure would be the same as a manual transmissions seizure. Except unlike a mechanical failure on the normal one that is mitigated by service inspections and maintenance of the clutch cable, etc this can fail due to a drop of moisture in a connector or the switch gear for this. How would you like it dipping down into a nice twisty cool mountain pass with it's associated condensation and suddenly it decides that you're shifting down due to condensation in the paddles and does that mid corner? The motorcycling journalists need to ask this hard question before they promote this deathtrap to the public.

Agreed. Some sort of manual intervention should have been made available to rider.

The argument that it shuts randomly gonna stop working is the same argument that people had when it changed from carbs to fuel injection I’m all for making things more accessible and safer for the masses It’s a bit weird on a hoon bike, but I won’t be surprised when this becomes more normal

What are the effects / relationships of Y-AMT regarding IMU functions ?? Thanks for any & all responses.
@hiddendragon4152 ай бұрын
Yamaha are not planning to have Y-AMT to talk to IMU until the next Y-AMT model. That is stop auto gear changes when the IMU is sensing a lot of lean angle (in a corner).

I like these but they are too quiet. The appeal of the baggers is the Vt-Twin rumble. This is like the bagger for the sophisticated man. Might as well have made it electric since it sounds so weak.

I use this kind of machine on a daily basis. Instead of letting the oil fill pressure push the separator piston all the way out, I prefer to use a setting tool or blocker to prevent the separator piston from moving all the way out. This way, the pressure from the oil fill pushes the separator piston to the setting tool position and it stays there. No need to push the separator piston into position after the fill.
