Silly question about the front. Why not use a spring compressor. Or put the wheels on and lower it so it compresses the spring and then connect the sway bar?

Gday sir, I’m a CAD designer and it would be really nice to make your whole build an assembly. All materials, screws, nuts bolts etc into one model. The alum, the 40deg brackets file everything. I’ll model it, you own it. Sell it for a few bucks prob. I’d love to do it and also love to do it to my GX:-)

@LessTalkMoreDelicious11 күн бұрын
Lotsa peeps run 275/65-18 (32.1”) on stock height and no major mods (just removal of inner fender screw)… I think the 17” equiv would be 275/70… so, in-b/n your 265 and a too-large 285.

There is no way this job is as bad as you make it sound. I’m very confident the tie rod would have freed up from the inner because these things have boots protecting them from rusting together like other cars. Just use a more leverage on it? Or hit what you got with a hammer? Idk, I’m helping my buddy out soon so maybe it is this bad
@WastingTimeInTheWoods26 күн бұрын
There’s no way to overestimate my incompetence with a wrench… but the boot you’re referring to covers only the inner tie rod’s junction with the rack. Not the outer tie rod. In any case Im sure it will be easier for you than it was for me. Good luck!
@leveluplife858526 күн бұрын
@@WastingTimeInTheWoods Not sure what my buddy’s will look like under there yet, but I think the worst case would to be replacing the inner and outer tie rod and if we free up the steering rack it’s just to install poly bushings. I’ve got a big crescent wrench and some hammers to try if my box ends don’t do it

Anyone know what a "4x4 service" is at the Lexus dealer? I would hope it includes a trans drain a full, since off-roading generates alot of heat in the transmission.
@WastingTimeInTheWoodsАй бұрын
4x4 service at Lex/Toyota is fluid changes on both the diffs and the transfer case, plus greasing the propeller shaft and driveline. Sorry, Transmission is a separate service. Transmission service requires a special machine to regulate fluid change pressure, the diff and transfer cases are just a drain and fill service.

did it miss it? where’s the review? how do they ride? what do you like and dislike about the ride?
@WastingTimeInTheWoodsАй бұрын
They ride great! I've had it all installed for two years now and have no complaints other than wishing I had gone with the 3" springs in front. On the trail, they're not as stiff as the 5100s I put in my wife's 3rd gen. On the street, they're firmer than stock, so the dive goes away, but when I sail over speed humps at 40 miles an hour, it's like they just disappear. I haven't noticed any shock fade on the trail. Probably 500-1000 trail miles on them now and 25K street miles, and no complaints. Would pick the same setup again except for taller springs in the front. Hope that helps!

I've been fairly impressed with Gaia mainly as a GPS/route tracking app, but the free version actually doesn't give you anything Google Maps + Google Earth doesn't give you and isn't really helpful for finding campsites. The pro version is now $5/month ($60/year... inflation anyone?) and gives you all the different map layers, w/the BLM layer being particularly useful for determining public lands you can readily camp on.

You've mentioned something about the drawers. Just keep in mind that you won't be able to open the right drawer when cooking on the table. I have drawer based fridge on the right and that's why I went with 2/3 table instead of full length. If you're going to keep your recovery gear/tools on the right then you will be fine. However, if you're going to use drawers to maximize storage for food goodies and cooking hardware then you will regret going with full length table.
@WastingTimeInTheWoodsАй бұрын
Good point! We have all the campsite set-up stuff, recovery gear, and tools in that one for exactly that reason. The left side is kitchen gear, and dry food generally rides in the 40% seat position to the fore of the fridge (I took mine out for extra room). My bigger concern is how my tilting fridge slide will work with it. It's still on it's way from Poland but we should find out soon : )

Awning yes. Awning room, em. If someone, one day, can show me the logic over a real tent (that can withstand wind, is quicker to set up, is not attached to the car, is made from proper tent material, has separate sleeping space, is totally bug proof, is cheaper, and and and) then i will try once again with the awning room i bought two years ago and have used once to only stand their looking at it scratching me head as to its use.
@WastingTimeInTheWoodsАй бұрын
It does have its drawbacks. We like it because our 9-year-old sleeps in the truck, and we can be connected to her. But in general, we like our Gazelle better. Switching to a 270 Awning this summer, though, so I'll probably get rid of the awning room.

I have the same setup installed on my gx 460 model 2010 and 2 things that i m not happy 1st is obviously a “ check air suspension “ error on the dashboard which is permenant How do i remove it ? 2nd from the front the vehicle is much lower than from the rear. Assume its the design of this vehicle Can you pls advise to make my day

Not sure what I did to get so lucky but I never got an error and never added washers to the sensors or anything. I did a zero-point calibration (paper clip method) right after the lift, and all the warning lights went away and never came back. I left my compressor and valve block in and just removed the lines. Hope you can sort it out. Warning light would drive me crazy!

My 9 month cost of ownership has been under $100 for a 2012 model: Oil filter and change, air filter change, and inside air filter change.
