Wah. Exhilarating seamless 'gat ' from alap to drut.

It reminds of the last four years of the precious music teaching period (Era) of my illustrious father USTAD AZMAT HUSSAIN KHAN DILRANG. This Raga was learnt by Abhishekhi ji during his Taalim from my father at Lonavala during 1971 to 1974 The main innovation done by my father in this composition was the use of Rupak Taal instead of original Vilambit Ektaal.. As per my knowledge this Daguri Raga (Named on Daguri Bani of Gubarhaar) was learnt by my father from his Patternal Uncle n Guru S. S. Ustad Allahdiya Khansaheb. As much as I have heard, Allhadiya Khansahb taught two parallel Ragas to my father during his stay at Gowalia Tank Residence in Mumbai. They were RAGA DAGURI and RAGA MANJARI BIHAG. Raga Manjari Bihag is widely sung and recorded by USTAD ASLAM KHANSAHB, who was one of the senior most disciples of my father Ustad Azmat Hussain Khan Dilrang.

Pandit Bhimsen Joshi has beautifully sung this Raga but its also important to reveal that his full Gayaki sounds as per the AGRA Gharana style. Sometimes it resembles the Gayaki of Ustad Fayyaz Khansahab Prempiya and Ustad Azmat Hussain Khansahab Dilrang.

. I had a hmv cassette of this which was of Very clear sound. I had listened it on all India radio at 11 am and recorded it on tape record. After few months i found its cassette in market.

Thanks for sharing this precious recording. Any idea about the date of this recording? appears to be 70s if not earlier. Unfortunately it appears that Gangubaiji wasn't recorded much in her prime. Most recordings available are 80's and later in her old age.
