Honestly this is a cool solution for the problem many lesser leagues have, not performing well in european competition because domestic competition just sucks and puts down the top teams form, this way the best teams play each other more and to me the final groups have a strong knockout stage vibe to them with how important each game is and how radically it changes the standings. Maybe this specific solution to that problem lesser leagues face isn't the best one but it is interesting at the very least.

It is a brilliant construction that gives everybody something while at the same time making no sense at all. Belgian absurdity is an artform very few understand and appreciate. And our competition format is a genuine masterpiece in that regard. The media partners get more games against the top teams so more viewers = more revenue. The big clubs get more revenue because they also get additional games against the bigger teams and more media money. At the same time, you get a failsafe for the big clubs because if you were poor during the first part of the season, you can still catch up in the later phases of the competition. Also, you can focus on the European competition in midweek games during the first part of the season without ruling you out of the national competition. And Belgian teams don't often play a role in the closing stages of the European competition anyway. The small clubs get the same stuff as they would normally get but also more cash due to the bigger media contract. So here you go small club: take a bit of money - less than us big clubs of course - and shut up. That's how the rich treat the poor anywhere and we are not going to pretend it's any different in Belgium. And since a top 6 finish will get you into the big boys playoff, you just might hit the jackpot. So it even has a carrot a the end of the stick! Once you reach the playoff, the points are halved. The points getting halved is the ultimate Belgian compromise. You could have play-offs and keep the points. That would be fair. But then you lose the artificial tension that draws in the crowds and viewers. Resetting the points to zero like you have in different play-off systems would make the first part of the season a bit pointless as you only need to reach top 6 and there is no real incentive to do much more. So we might lose viewers and supporters in the first part of the season if we do a full reset. So halving the points gives you a little of both. Those first-round games matter...just not that much. I agree for all the part of this dumb AI but when you say th game is too slow i will disagree and i think the reason is because it's how we view the game yoou seem to like playing a fast football game completely unrealist with raimbow, elastico etc.. and i want a game more based on real football with ball possession being able to play a lovely tiki taka with every ball control feeling harsh. Bro, in practice before match day, dude just sits around the defender and whenever I pass it gets cleared out, I even tried the “set up run” button, still didn’t work. And the knock on is very broken, I shifted my joystick straight forward, ends up knocking straight towards the advertisement board. One time, the ball literally phased through Foden, and this is crazy, I was right behind Foden, phased through him, hit my shoulder (not the upper arm or lower) and we conceded that penalty.

I watched you video on whether fifa should be realistic or arcade type game. I think what makes fifa appealing is that it offers you a taste of professional football without putting in hard work to get it. So to make it completely arcade type game would just take the fun out of it, cuz players would come up with one technique and stick with it and win every time. But having too much realism is also not fun cuz it can very frustrating when you do everything right and your players play like idiots. So I think it should be balanced, but a little more tilted towards realism than ping pong, arcade, predictable playing style.

I only play Fifa/FC for the career mode. My last one in the series was Fifa 14 on the PS3. Recently I treated myself a new Xbox X to celebrate graduating from uni, picked up FC24 on a discount, and the gameplay - after getting used to it - felt actually awesome. At least for someone who hadn't played a single football game in like 7 years and is two console generations behind. It's certainly not perfect due to things like stupid AI with players you don't control at the moment (even Fifa 14 AI was better at anricipating passes than FC 24, you can just tell), but it's highly enjoyable anyway. Therefore I wouldn't necessarily call it a bad game. It's just not the kind of progress you would expect to have been made in ten years. But to be fair, we're talking about EA after all, arguably the most extreme example of a corporation blindly following a stereotypical MBA approach of maximizing returns like a [insert r-word] with no interest in actually delivering a quality product. Considering this, the development of the series is really sad. But what other choice for a football game do we have now that PES has turned into a live service cash cow with even worse gameplay... Man, I remember PES being an actual competitor back in the day. Sadly they then have decided to start targetting only the top 0.01% of mentally ill, hyper-addicted gamblers that dump their whole savings on pack openings to get a dopamine kick out of finishing 14-0 against some fifth graders, as well as those fifth graders themselves who only play EFootball because they can't afford the latest Fifa/FC. Outside of this cash-grab bs, the whole business of licensing has skyrocketed to absurd cost levels which prevents new developers from entering the football game market at all (or sports games in general, for that matter). And it's not even an animation issue, those aren't even noteworthy effort- or cost-wise in comparison. Only the cost of licensing is responsible for EA's low effort monopoly in this market at this point. And that is a sad fact.

There is no heart in the game anymore. Especially in any UEFA clubs. Players ay like robots, afraid to take any risks. Those who do (like Richarlison or Antony), are made fun of by everyone. Even most fans have become unbearable. They're more fans of players than the actual clubs.
