If he wants to check in early, he should book an extra day before he gets there

My favorite line for people that go "come on, you know me" is "Sorry, the cameras have to see me check". Pushes the blame from you to corporate while also ensuring the costumer doesn't think you're accusing them of anything.

I can just imagine how that would go over in our Canadian national parks in the Rockies. "Yeah, Imma just go round up the grizzly bears and put them elsewhere. Y'know, they're REALLY amenable to that..." 😂

I have just binged your whole skits and stories playlist. Learned a lot and laughed a lot. Do you have experience in acting or something? You sell the defferent characters really well. I particulalry like Beth in Housekeeping 😳 Also, the idea of trusting google over a hotel concierge seems like madness to me 😅

I think I had it once where I couldn't get into a room at a hotel. Basically, I was subbing for another surveyor who got sick, but her name was on the reservation. I think I had figured they changed the name and then they didn't like me booking in. After trying to reason with the front desk, telling them that I work for the same company and getting nowhere, I finally just phone the admin to sort it out. I don't know what the admin said to the front desk, but they just handed the keycard over. I imagine they said something about cancelling any rooms they had booked and never booking with them again.

Since Covid, hotel staff seems to keep their difference at most places I have stayed. Stayovers are not really freshened up much.

Or... the hotel is so successful that they feel no need to ensure their customers are satisfied. Your aunt is free to take her business elsewhere, but it sounds like this hotel won't miss it. This may seem like a mean / heartless statement, but that's what corporate America is these days: means and heartless.

I don't work in this field, but I can relate to the hotel. Yes, they did wrong. Yes, they should own up to it. But, if you have someone coming in late (say, after 9PM), being a real sweetheart to the front desk, and this person really looks to need a shower and good night's rest... and if the front desk isn't busy... after calling around looking for a vacancy and finding none, I don't blame the hotel for renting the pre-paid room.

The take-away: Don't use third party if the reservation is important to you.

Looks like Mr. Jackson wasn’t expecting the company to call the hotel directly. He thought that he would be able to deal with the company and come up with whatever excuse would get him off the hook.

I worked as a security guard at a fertilizer plant where one of my duties was to weigh trucks going in and out. Most of the drivers were cool and easy to get along with. But one kept trying to convince me to visit him at his hotel room at the end of my shifts. I kept it professional, and him at a distance, but when he started asking other guards about me and making innuendos about me, my boss when to the head of the plant and got the guy banned. I didn’t even know until a few weeks went by without him showing up. I thanked my boss.
