Over $300 for an engine does not get my attention. These are definitely out side my pay grade. I find much better deals at train shows and on line shopping for post war only. Scale is too big and costly being aimed at the very serious collector.😊😊

I’m planning on going up for Saturday. I was there around July 4th and bought many items. Clyde told me his inventory wasn’t updated on the MTH site. Still trying to locate some of the Morton Salt cabooses. It’s a great place!

Hi Calvin. Converting from PS2 to PS3 is as simple as replacing the main board located in the tender. MTH sells the PS2/3 stacker boards on their website. If you have a 5v PS2 board, you may want to do a full PS3 upgrade which would entail changing all the harnesses and lights to LED, since separating the main driver board and the sound board is nearly impossible without causing damage. If you have a 3v PS2 board, it is literally a plug and play swap as all of the harness pins plug back into the new board, along with the updated heatsink mount that MTH sells. Separating the power board and sound board is easy on the 3v board sets. If you aren't personally comfortable with the swap, most authorized MTH dealers have a repair tech on their payroll and will offer that service as well.

Great engine and the layout is really coming together! I grabbed these as well. I didn't like the horn off the bat as I swapped mine with one from the older SD35's, but I def agree with the improved engine sounds. Enjoy!

I ran this loco all weekend and REALLY love the newer sound set. The older PS2 variants pretty much sound like SD40-2's, so these newer PS3 units sound much nicer, and prototypical IMHO. Together, they sound great since no two locos sound the same in real life. I hope you enjoy!

This first shot I have seen in real life. Being I am from the great state of NC. In Charlotte NC in a small town called Harrisburg southern railway it's north south line.Seen what I call shortly after the merger.Saw both N&W and Southern.Twist here I from Monroe NC. Where the the Seaboard Air Line railway now CSX.When I was a boy have relatives that lived in Charlotte.Where Seaboard Air Line crossed the Southern.Sometimes I spent the night and could hear both blowing for grade crossings.Seaboard had a deeper tone to their whistle.While Southern had a higher tone to their whistle.I model in o gauge to.Usely I don't do politics I do this hobby to get away from the stress of the real world.How ever what happened this weekend was just bad all around.Yes prayers to all hurt and to those who lost their lives.Should not have happened here or anywhere for that matter.

We never saw Southern locos outside of Cleveland where my brother and I grew up, but N&W could be seen, sometimes mixed with Conrail, sometimes with Chessie and sometimes on their own.
