CJRB has actually turned me around on button locks. I got a civivi qubit Kizer cormorant and Vosteed corgi and was thoroughly disappointed with the button locks on those and figured all button locks must suck. They all lack that satisfying feeling of opening a knife that I look for. However after buying the Pyrite lite (couldn’t pass up a deal that good) I fell in love with the feel of the cjrb button lock. Got the Ekko and Pyrite bowie immediately and I’m waiting on my Version now. Any recommendations on button locks with a satisfying “detent”?

Same with Pyrite alt. The button sticks. It's not as satisfying as other button locks. Button stick is the one thing you don't want. CRJB failed on this button lock. It's a shame.

My CF Django arrived like 3 days ago. I got the Compact Chad in the same CF/bronze accents variant awhile back because the Django in that variant was out of stock at DLT and I love it but always wanted that CF Django and it hasn’t disappointed! I love the lighter weight and better balance compared to the titanium versions (I have a Diamond ti pulsar which is great but it’s definitely a bit more butt heavy and just heavier overall) and the bronze ti accents just go perfectly 👌 with the CF. The one thing that lets it down is that they don’t texture the CF! I mean it’s still great but why??! Why kunwu?! Textured and/or contoured CF is gorgeous! Probably my favourite handle material when done that way, they texture the gmascus, titanium but CF is just taking it too far?! 😂 Texturing would make it ultimate but regardless it’s still probably my favourite variation they do on their knives. I’m also keen on trying out one of the full stonewashed versions with the acid stonewashed blade and the dark stonewashed diamond ti handles too. They look really nice ❤ Oh! Also I was all ready to take it apart and replace one of the springs with one of these crazy strong springs that come from the CMB predator(they’re the strongest omega springs I’ve ever seen and often replacing both springs will make the knife unusable because of the tension but if you just put one on one side, it’ll make the detent fantastic, which I did on my compact Chad and my deka) but I was super pleasantly surprised that my Django has a top tier crossbar lock detent straight out of the box, like possibly the best detent on a crossbar lock I’ve ever tried without switching out springs etc

Awesome videos, just watched the last 10 uploads in a row! Question if you don't mind. I'm looking to get my first folding knife and I would like to set my budget at $150. The past 2 weeks or so I've been searching non stop and have more or less came up with these as things I would like, blade type in order of preference, Tanto, Drop, Clip, spear. Colors I would prefer purple or black. Ideally I would like it to be good to go out of the box with no necessary mods and finally blade needs to be under 4" due to laws. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Keep up the great work!

The drop bear is my favorite knife! Have you seen the toxic storm in 20CV? I’m about to upgrade my drop bear from a Nitro-V steel and I’m torn between the Elmax and 20CV. I like the all around looks of the elmax but the steel performance of the 20CV (I know they are close). Knife Center also sales an exclusive drop bear in S90V and micarta burlap. As for a clip point, have you seen the Lander 2 clip point by Knafs? Kizer makes their knives so is as close to the drop bear as possible but with a clip point version.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all to knock down a bit of the jimping. I have an ad20.5 in 3v with micarta scales…it’s *so nice* for a stout folder, I wouldn’t want it to be uncomfortable to operate. It just wouldn’t be right. Yea man the frn handled ones are coming in with an S90V blade for 80 bucks, infact I just had a look at the website and its live already. I just ordered myself my first Pyrite lite a few days ago so it should be on some future videos, was waiting for one that really caught my attention before buying one. Regarding the Kansept, I really dont know. Just because it feels a bit unstable doesnt mean it is, it may just be the heavy blade thats making me feel unsure wether to push it. Next time I go out to the countryside im going to bring it with me and stab it hard into some tree stumps a whole bunch of times from different angles. If it doesnt disengage during that (ill be wearing gloves lol), then yea its probably good to go. Will let everyone know in a future video when I do that. I also want to find out myself actually. Back in the day I was a Kershaw collector. When they made the decision to stCop putting date codes on the knives I knew they were destined to decline. Basically electing to attempt to hide the manufacturing details. In the last year or so Kershaw has made strides to improve. I haven't purchased a Kershaw since the Launch 7. I still have old Kershaws in boxes that have not made it into the collectors database. What I own more of now than anything is Kizer. Kizer is an actual sickness for me. I tend to buy multipole versions of models I like. Example I have 5 versions of the Gemini, my favorite Kizer model of all time. Trivisa, I like the brand, from the 10Cr to 14C28N to S35VN, all fit and finish have be good.

Hey, I havent been around in the EDC world anywhere near long enough to remember that, but have definitely read that they went through a rough patch and are picking up really well lately, with the livewire, launch series and also the great duralock models making them more respectable again. Before I had any of those I kinda didnt have them on my radar at all. Haha yea I understand, I do get doubles of knives that I really like when they have scale variations, but damn 5 Gemini's, thats a lot. Which one is your favourite out of all of them? Since they have different locks going on. And yea I like Trivisa a lot, got two models otw now. One of them should have been here a long time ago but it got lost somewhere along the way (first time this has ever happened to me). Love my Lacerta I got from them, but yea, you will see the new ones make an appearance once they arrive for sure

Spyderco - I find most people love them or hate them, little in between. Me, I love them. They really have not been reaching into the overpriced realm until I would say around 2018 or so. I had no interest in the Smock until I finally purchased one. Now I love it, I really like the feel in hand and the function of it. I see some discussion of the CTS-XHP blade steel in the comments. I just bought a Spyderco Chaparral in Raffir Noble scales as a birthday present for my best friend. I have a Chaparral in CTS-XHP and think its one of the best 5th pocket carries. Its a good steel and Cold Steel used it a lot back in the day. Was happy to Grab a COLD STEEL ENGAGE LAUNCH EDITION in CTS-XHP a couple of years ago. Now I am just rambling... Great video.

Thanks man, the Chaparral with Raffir Noble handles was something I had my eye on ages ago, but ultimately forgot about it. I was also thinking about getting the Cold Steel Engage with XHP recently, the limited edition one in full carbon fiber but decided against it since I know myself, I wouldent carry it due to its size and weight. it would just be a very fancy fidget toy with that Atlas lock on it. Maybe ill consider downsizing and getting one of the smaller ones 🤔 And its all good anyways, feel free to post whatever you want and ramble on, I'll read it and I like to hear from people that have been into the knife world for way longer than I have, I only started March of last year so lots of things I've missed out on. Thats cool, I kinda enjoy the diversity of the 3 different main factories and their subtle fit and finish differences. The Taichung Taiwan models seem to have some of the best tight finishes, sometimes overly so and you end up with lock stick and other issues. Ive yet to get any knife with CTS-XHP but I know its a great steel because of its reputation (also its stats on the steel chart make it look pretty good. Would you consider adding anything else to your spydie collection in the future? Also I know the H2 one you are talking about, its called the salt or pacific salt or something along those lines. I was considering getting a fully serrated one of those way back in my early days of collecting before I settled on the Hawkbill one.
