Nice to see a different type of job brought in. Appreciate you taking the time to explain each process and why. As always a job well done and I'm sure a happy customer. For those that don't know where Midnight Paint and Body is: They are in Quesnel, British Columbia Cariboo Region.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I've been trying to get better at the editing part of it, but I don't always fare well with technology....

Nice work John! Repairing older vehicles is intimidating enough, you make this seem far more approachable.

Great job. I watched 2 other videos of yours and found them vary informative. Your tips and what to watchout for are spot on. I've done some minor work and can confirm your pointers. The bed fender well video is the best one I've seen, especially your point about the inner well repair/replace, know one else has made note of that, even my local body guys just want to fix the fender only. thank you for the tip.

Another fine job! I might invest in one of those pullers.

I used them lots in my career, but never owned one until fairly recently, scored this one for a fair deal on marketplace

Great job young man! I enjoy your videos. You have yourself a nice little shop. I own an Autobody shop in Massachusetts,. Not sure where you are located . But if my spraybooth was set up like yours OSHA would fine the living hell out of me and probably shut me down.

I get away with it because my shop is at home, in the country, and no employees 😉

John have you ever used scuffit ? Is that (fire red), panels on all this new stuff is so thin it doesn't take much to pull or push it out with your hand. Those pin welders work good and yes I have pulled holes in this new vehicle metal. Keep up the good work, all and yes short bed bedsides are more than standard bedside replacement panels.
@JohnnymidnightАй бұрын
I think they call it poppy red if I'm not mistaken, not familiar with scuffit ? Definitely can't be too aggressive with the stud welder, especially if it's HSS. The high carbon in high strength steel makes it pull holes and crack pretty easily.

Is that the Pro lite gun,I used to have one,nice rig! Got stolen,the I bought an Optima by Motor Guard, Euro 900 for just clear,I absolutely love it better than,my Sata,my Iwata,but I hardly use them anymore.Thx again
@JohnnymidnightАй бұрын
Base gun is a pro lite, clear gun is a TT

Very nice job! Do you paint over the 2k primer surfacer or were you painting over a 2k sealer?
@JohnnymidnightАй бұрын
Over the urethane primer, I rarely prep for sealer, unless it’s new parts
@petersmart1999Ай бұрын
Yeah,Im not a fan! Solvent base,you can slow down, ,speed up,you have melv control,the water ehh! But its enviro friendly,until you blast one some coats of solvent based clear,haha! I love the DC series of clears,the 2000 cut buff in 40 minutes air dry,the 3000 little more flexible,the 4 is awsome overall,but man it is noxious!
@reowhite4862Ай бұрын
Nice work! That's my favorite Dodge color. Do you ever do wet bed blends on difficult colors like metallics or Pearl's?
@JohnnymidnightАй бұрын
Not sure what you mean by a wet blend? Using a blending agent?
@reowhite4862Ай бұрын
Yes. It's kinda like a clear base coat that gives you a wet bed for fine metallics to land on so they dont end up falling into the sanding scratches and leaving a halo
@JohnHiggins-sw4shАй бұрын
I used to use basefix at one time when I was a production painter using Sikkens products. Now with most of what I do, I don’t have to blend very often, so I don’t keep anything like that anymore

All that plastic makes assembly easy and quick but repairs are nightmare.
@JohnnymidnightАй бұрын
Not much plastic other than the fender liner and some trim
@carldarlington7395Ай бұрын
@@Johnnymidnight I was refering to all the plastic components in the door. What a job to remove all of that. It used to be much easier to remove the interior door panel and then leave the window up and then be able to reach in and push out the door skin. I hate all this plastic. After a few years it gets brittle and breaks.
@JohnnymidnightАй бұрын
@@carldarlington7395ah, gotcha, yes, definitely not a fan of this style, you’re 100% correct, way too much opportunity for breakage with all of the brittle clips and tabs, and of course every manufacturer is different, so things often break trying to figure out how they come apart

One of the largest shops around here,they have like 7 locations,somehow puts out the worst paint work I have ever seen! I can tell every car they do,tiger stripes,panel paints they do it all,especially any silvers,just awful.They say their envirobase is a flawless system,I dont think so!
@JohnnymidnightАй бұрын
I've only had very limited experience with waterborne basecoat, but I know it has to be sprayed very differently than solvent !
