This is a rare case when in a cartoon all cats were good and dogs were bad. I have been a cat lover since childhood, so this cartoon is dear to me.

If anyone has played the FFVII remake, I would put money on the 'Stamp' jukebox song being inspired by the theme from Dogtanian. It is meant to be from a fictional children's cartoon and the dog even looks like it is drawn in the same early anime art style.

What I remember and know is Inspector Gadget as airing on CBS as repeats could've actually been my local CBS station (WCSC) in S.C. about almost 32/33 years ago (1991-92) airing the show in syndication, while still being played on Nickelodeon.

I’ve read the original novel and have seen so many adaptations and - honestly - this is the very best. Hearing that theme tune I’m 10 again.

I'm not knocking any generation but I've seen kid's programmes now and I think most kids would've got up and switched off or found something else to do during the theme song and that is a shame 😔 I loved this used to watch it after getting in from primary school in the mid to late 80's 😁

Caught my mum humming this in the kitchen when I went to see her, she's 74 and never even watched it except for overhearing it when I was a child. 😅
