I’d love to do the back of the neck a satin black. Not really stain, as I don’t need to see the grain. Can it be done? I’ve searched and haven’t found any type of paint or stain to achieve this. It seems everyone tapes the back off. Even from the factory I don’t know why they leave a dark fretboard and super light neck? Any advice? I didn’t even see products on stew Mac to achieve this… thanks!
@ObscuraDeCapra21 сағат бұрын
There's nothing wrong with the ink. StewMac sells this exact product specifically for ebonizing fretboards. If anything is coming off you either didn't leave it to dry long enough (unlikely) or didn't burnish it properly to ensure all of the ink that was just hanging out on the surface had come off. It happens. You really need to wail on it to get it cleaned up properly.

one take away from this vid is that the Jackson pickups,. which u can buy used for 20usd sound just as good as 'premium semour duncan... expencive pickups are a scam. ive bought just cheep no name pickups from chinaand they sound totally fine, there is no reason to pay more than 30usd for a pickup, there is no sound quality improvement

With Gotoh, you’re locked in. They use different bushings for the post inserts. Also the routing is slightly different: with the Floyd rose special, the specs are identical meaning you can buy the original Floyd rose when you get the scratch and it’s just drop in. I mean gotoh isn’t bad to be locked in to… but Floyd rose just has more aftermarket parts 😂. I like to keep my stuff stock though.

Great question. I don't use the neck pickup very often, so I'd recommend the standard Duncan Jazz or '59. Those seem to be the default pair with the JB.

Put a mic in front of it, run it through the mains and monitors. You don’t need a huge stack. Many major label metal bands tour now with kempers etc with no cabs on stage at all. Meshuggah, Trivium, The Halo Effect etc

I just actually put Dragonfire Crusaders in two of my guitars. The Crusader is copy of the Seymour Duncan Invader that costs less than half what the Invader costs. I built my own Tom DeLonge Strat by taking my old Strat and installing a white Crusader (for aesthetic purposes since it looked better with my Strat) and, honestly, I think it sounds every bit as good as a Seymour Duncan. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dragonfires to looone looking to upgrade the pickups in one of their guitars.

I bought this exact guitar and it's great aside from a few minor finish blemishes. The neck is thin, comfortable and smooth, fretboard is nice and dark, looks like ebony (unlike the vomitwood they put on the X series). Frets could use a polish and the ends are just a tad sharp, but well leveled and perfectly playable. The body is smaller than I expected (I'm yuuge tho), it's very light and resonant. The posture and level of comfort when sitting is about the same as any Strat shaped guitar. When standing, the upper strap button position causes the strap to awkwardly chafe against the tip of the horn, it's a discomfort, but fairly easily fixable I imagine. Stock licensed Floyd is alright, keeps tuning well, not great at flutters and divebombs. I bought a Schaller Lockmeister and a fat block, which might be a bit overkill but whatever. I also bought some locking tuners because I hate winding strings. The stock pickups are great actually, very high output, they sound quite similar to the SD Black Winter in my other guitar. However, they have one major issue - they are half white which cheapens the overall look and I don't like it, so I ordered some Aliexpress rail pickups to replace them (I'm not buying big brand pickups anymore, prices have gone ridiculous over the past 2 years and it's not worth it for a marginal at best improvement in sound.) When the pickups arrive, I'm taking it to a tech to install all the upgrade parts, give the frets some love and set it up in C standard with 11-56, it's gonna be killer. I may feel a bit of buyer remorse for not getting the white one, otherwise it's a great guitar and I like it much more than the RRX24 it replaced, that thing was a torture to play sitting.

All those issues with a Concept Series is not cool! I know this video is 2 years old but I want to share a similar experience I had with QC issues I had on a Pro Series King V I ordered from Sweetwater last month. There was a ton smudges and strange spots all over the guitar. I had the same issue with the "ebony" fretboard - just didn't look like ebony to me. I hate feeling picky too, and I ended up sending it back. I found an older model KVXMG that GC was selling used and for whatever reason these older Jackson models from the last decade just seem like better guitars than the Pro Series Indonesian ones being produced in this decade. I dunno. I wonder what the reason is?

Wow. I bought a pair of cream colored Dragonfire "neck&middle" Strat pickups,along with a Dragonfire "Screamer" bridge in the "double cream" bobbins(before LDM,put out the "cease&desist" patent on them.) That was about 12yrs ago. They still sound beautiful,like the day i installed them. I took a chance in buying them,cause i was going to install Guitar Fetish pickups in her. I still have the maple Strat,with the black "SSH" pickguard,along with the Dragonfire pickups. I dont know if they were winding their own or re-branding them(back then,)but i was completely satisfied with them. Sorry to hear about your "dismay" with Dragonfire. Sounds like alot of things has changed with the brand.

The problem I had with the Special was the threads stripping in the blocks, and that is due to having originals on must of my other guitars and you can sinch the hell out of them, and have never had one strip. Functionally the special works fine though.
@mikefrombloodofthewolf70762 ай бұрын
Completely agree. I have a Schaller and the Special is definitely not as good as that. But, they are better than most licensed Floyd's you get on entry level guitars, like any of the JS models for example.
@ronnieroxx133 ай бұрын
No. They did not say that they thought it was worthy of a return. They said if they thought it was worthy of a return, they might choose to give you a refund or credit.. If they choose to do so. But you actually installed it and used it, which violates the return policy, which is how it was designed. Because as you said, what good is it if it doesn't protect you from faulty equipment?....their loophole (escape clause)

I had a js32 king V. I did a Vid for it which is on my channel, but I absolutely adored that guitar. Hit a hard spot and had to sell it tho, but it was an amazing guitar for the price. Ordered the Warrior today and I gotta say I’m quite stoked about it. The pickups are good, the over all quality of the js32 range is good. I’ve got a JS32 8 string that I painted and it’s my main guitar for my band. I love the JS stuff.
