I appreciate how here in the US, at least on the West Coast, the snow markers are made of flexible fiberglass whips instead of wooden or steel post that will kill you if you happen to slide into one.
@StromerYoutube
@StromerYoutube 25 күн бұрын
Those you saw in the video weren't snow markers. The real ones are over 2m high, made out of wood and usually not thicker than 3-4cm. So they either brake or you rip them out of the ground anyways. Those in the video were just regular road posts. The reason they are made out of wood and not plastic, is because this road technically is a private toll road. So they can use whatever they want as a road post.😅

Actually, yes! You have to restrict the bike by 2HP from 50 to 48. There's a restriction kit from a company in germany. I dont know how it's working out for greece though...In Austria and Germany, the lower power has to be written into the papers of the bike.(About 150€ fee to change that in austria) Here you go: alphatechnik.de/alpha-technik-drosselkit-35-kw-fuer-bmw-f650gs-f650gs-dakar/01-r13-k35

I also have a 2005 V-strom and I thought about trying the Varadero for the same reason you did. How are you finding the differences between both? I hear they're a bit more confy, but also a little bit heavier than the Strom. In terms of power they are very similar, but maybe the weight or the gearbox ratio makes the difference?
@StromerYoutube
@StromerYoutube Ай бұрын
If we are talking about the VStrom 650, the difference in Power is definitely there. Much more torque from down low. Weight wise...yes the Varadero is heavier on paper. But in real life I find the Varadero actually more balanced than the VStrom 650.
@esdrubaldino
@esdrubaldino Ай бұрын
@@StromerKZbin Sorry, for some reason I thought you had the 1000 strom, so that's why I said similar power, I have a close friend that has the 650 Strom, and I've driven the bike many times, a very fun engine. The balance is something people usually speak about the Varadero, they say it's more refined, and the better looking one (although that's a personal preference). I'm trying to get a chance to test out a Varadero to see the real difference from my prespective. Thanks for the info! Great driving, and a very good quality video btw!

Hello there!!! nice video!! <3 one question : i am considering on buying a vstrom 650 new or used but the main concern is do i need traction control?? if not i could go for this older version/model if yes the budget will be higher to go for a new one for 2024... what is your opinion .. the main use will be in the city of Athens and sometimes trips with a passenger..
@StromerYoutube

Much more refined engine compared to the 1150....but the brakes aren't as good. I don't find the Varadero more top heavy then the GS. The Varadero engine comes alive above 3500rpm.

Great buy, as long as the cam chain tensioners are the newer ones and the rectifier is in good condition it will not let you down. I have the 2001 one with carbs and a swapped 6 speed gearbox and it is a blast to ride. very comfortable and capable for its size and weight. Would you say it is smooth at the lower rpms? The carb ones have a bit of a reputation for surging, mine also has it and I am thinking of upgrading to a newer EFI model.
@StromerYoutube
@StromerYoutube 2 ай бұрын
As far as I know, the issues with the cam chain tensioners is only on the SD01. Mine is relatively smooth from 2500rpm upwards, depending on the gear. If yours is surging at low rpm, maybe check if the carbs are synced correctly. Had the same issue on my EFI 990 ADV and 1150GS.
