I really can't see Biggie being able to comfortably fit in a 190. It wasn't just a nickname.
@z06dave19 күн бұрын
Not a bargain to run. I own one. The cost of the car is the only 'bargain'. All maintenance is usual Audi RS pricing. Expect mechatronic faults on early cars, usually around $5k to fix, brake rotors are around $600 each corner, tyres too. Ideally you want to carbon clean it every 20k too as they soot up easy. Its fun, its fast and it looks lovely but don't think you can just jump from your every day box and expext similar bills.

The 190D discussed here is not a North American MBZ; it's a Euro import. The 190E had in the US had electric windows, seats, headrests and temperature control and sunroof. I owned, restored 6 of them in succession between 2009 and 2020. Absolutely LOVED the 190e 6 cylinder. 30 mpg and 0-60 in 7.8 sec. Maybe the best car Mercedes ever built.

As the proud owner of a 190e 2.3-16v I can tell you, I don't ever want to part with it. I've had an '82 240D and it's a beauty but the 190e 2.3 is just tops! I want to get a regular 190e for a daily driver (easier to find parts and better on gas) but I remember they used to go for 1700 to 3500 max a few years back! It was just always really hard to find one with a manual transmission (deal breaker for me) now the prices on them have Skyrocketed!! (probably thanks to guys like y'all!) It is well deserved though...

I was looking at one of these today in a yard of 100 interesting cars rusting away in New England.Very elegant, I was comparing the greenhouse to that of an Alfa 1750 GTV that I'm trying to get the owner to part with. You can actually see out of these cars, the A-pillars of modern cars are so thick. The woodwork in this BMW is incredible, cabinetry of the first order.

The $10k timing chain re re should be mentioned. And the $5k cats. And engine out for starter replacement, and everything else really...
@dariandelmastro608627 күн бұрын
how common is the timing chain issue in these engines and at what mileage ? thanks!
@thethrottlecracker27 күн бұрын
@@dariandelmastro6086 I'm not an authority, but I can say its not "common". The converter replacement is far more common. Engine out for just about anything is a definite factor when considering if you can afford it. Unsure of service interval on timing set.

If you had the streets where I live, you may want a more toned down suspension. The interior on the 992 is superior, too. I’m also used to the grand touring size.

Not true at all. A channel actually raced a rs5 and e92, on a actual race track the audi beat it! So a e90 would not out handle the rs5 by football fields!

It's good to see her driving this 911. I assume she is short because she's pretty close to the steering wheel, which gives me hope when I'm ready to purchase my first Porsche. At 61 inches, a seat that doesn't adjust so I can see over the wheel is a deal breaker.

I'll never sell my R129 and just put a new canvas roof on her and (among other things) replaced the springs, which -- incredibly -- were original to the car. Two amazing results: the car actually now rides a bit higher now, so, the front lip doesn't scrape anymore on driveways and; I can now feel what each of the four wheels are doing at all times, totally "new" suspension feel. I love these cars so much.

Recommend to update the steering with the rack & pinion steering introduced in the Mk2. It dramatically transformed the steering from being like steering a boat barge to a proper road car.

Trouble with the rack and pinion steering on the newer ones is that they almost always fail! Sometimes with very little warning ! I never had trouble with the old recirculating ball units on the earlier Rolls'. I thought they drove nice too. If you're wanting Mercedes or BMW type handling..buy one of them.

I went to a dealer last week to look at a used C4S they have. It had two previous owners. Nice car but it smelled like it had been farted in (actually more like sweat I think). But yeah, seriously, if I’m spending $140K on a used car it can’t smell nasty inside. The dealership should have noticed that. It was the first Porsche I’d driven - I think the size was perfect, small but not claustrophobic. Two things I didn’t like was that part of the navigation screen couldn’t be seen behind the steering wheel (pretty important to see that lol) and the backup camera is worse than my sons Corolla - it’s terrible. I drive a Chevy truck and the backup camera on it is perfect - and it’s 7 years old. BUT, the 911 is just so fun and cool to drive - it’s so raw - I was surprised how raucous it was when I got on it. Going to order a Gentian Blue C2S soon.
