Hello Very good that I found your video when trying to solve my problem with my autopilot. Turned out to be broken wires to the clutch. Turned out that StephensonGobin had no more in stock, but they where extremely kind to produce one off that have been running for one season by now. Same price as aswell which is a pleasant surprize for producing only one clutch. Saved me approx. £2000, so thanks. Got the same answer from all distributors of Lewmar autopilots. Can't be fixed, too complex, need to be replaced. Turned out to be a quite easy fix... And many thanks to StephensonGobin for their excellent service.

Hello, I have just watched your interesting video on replacing the clutch on your Lexmark auto helm. We have the same problem with our Bavaria Vision 40. I wonder if you could provide us with the UK company that supplies the clutch please. We are based in southern Australia and halfway through travelling around Tasmania when the auto helm decided to stop working. Our investigations thus far, through the Lewmar distributor, are that they can only supply the clutch and motor complete for nearly $4,000! It seems to me that buying the clutch only is the best option, thus the contact details are important to us. Many thanks for an informative video and in anticipation of the supplier details. Happy and safe sailing!

Hello from Sweden, it is interesting to follow you, especially when we have a Bavaria 31 cruiser from 2008. I will test your tips regarding the Isotherm. I have a autopilot like yours and it is still working perfect. Hopefully it will last. I am wondering about the installation on your solar panel. I am going to install one but i am a little confused about whats best way to make the cables to the navigation area inside. Can you please describe how this have been solved in your boat? As usual a rally nice film👍😀 In addition to the place Veiholmen itself, the Steamboat route through the maze of skerries on the western side of Smøla is an attraction itself perfect for a windless sunny day. Thorough studies of the chart in advanced is essential. After my passing I spoke to a grown local at Veiholmen. He claimed that in the days prior to chart plotters any non local attempting the route in a boat capable of speeds above 7 knots would ground the boat. I went through with chart plotter and in speeds well below 7 knots and found it fun and challenging. And late spring evenings watching the sunset is something special out there.

What was wrong with the goose-neck fitting? Was it just wear?
@SailingArgo2 жыл бұрын
The rigger said it was a little loose. As you can see the old one was a original Selden goose-neck fitting in "hard plastic" material. Because the bolts holding this to the mast are made of metal it will make a greater wear to the plastic over time. The goose-neck fitting we got from him to replace the old one is 100% metal.
@SailingYachtSaltyLass2 жыл бұрын

I did geology in school when I was 16 and it still fascinates me. I wonder if geology is warmer than sailing? Maybe if we did volcanoes... I think that the fisherman's route was less bumpy because the changes of depth were less extreme. Looking on a chart for that area, the route was mostly at 50m depth whereas the route you followed had a lot of big changes of depth. What we learned in the Outer Hebrides was that big changes in depth results in big waves on the sea. Lovely video though and it was interesting to see how you do your navigation
@SailingArgo2 жыл бұрын
😂 volcanic studies would have been something👍 You are absolutely right when it comes to depths and waves. We made a mistake and had to pay for it. On the outside of the sheltered waters there are depths coming from 800 meters coming up to 20 meters in extremely short distance. Which makes this area very dangerous in rough weather.
