@@psd28 From my understandin, even studded they had issues holdin the heads on under 20 or more PSI boost so they had to decompress it. Since the 6.9 has a smaller 7/16 head bolt while the 7.3 has a ½inch head bolt & can handle much higher boost

R&D offers shaved pistons. It will drop the compression ratio to 17:1. 070 thousands removed on the 6.9 and. 040 on the 7.3 idi. . You can then run 30 PSI on arp studs and make more power with the 6.9. I was thinking of dropping my ratio to 18:1 on my 6.9 I'm rebuilding and run a gtp38 on stock waste gate settings.

At about 4:00 you guys joked about the throttle sticking. Funny story- A few years ago I was driving my 89 F259 7.3 IDI cross country, and on some highway in Ohio late one night- I came to find my throttle return spring broke! And unfortunately mine was a C6 auto, but thankfully it slowly made it back as far as 1200RPM, and I was able to park it in a lot and discover what happened. Moral of the story- CHECK YER SPRINGS!

Yup I'm used to hearing it. R&D IDI Performance has been around 6 years now and it pops right up with a Google search. Any diesel is fuel + air and getting it to hold. It's not easy nor cheap with an IDI but it's been done a good bit.

A friend of ours in the Czeck Republic made 4 sets of custom multilayer gaskets, 2 of them standard thickness, 2 sets were thicker for decompression purposes. It's setting around 18:1. It starts good in cold weather, but can take a while to warm up due to the lowered cylinder pressure dropping the heat a bit
