My last motorcycle was the same BMW K1200RS, 2004. In 5 years of operation I drove 60,000 km on it, there were no breakdowns, only at 100,000 km I changed the clutch disc. Now I bought a BMW K 1300 GT 2009. from Russia with love )!

Yes! It's getting harder and harder to find someone to work on older BMW's. Your videos have been a huge help.

Yes, please! I had one 2001 an put 148.000km on without any issue other than alternator brushes... ALL maintenances performed by myself. Great bike, I miss It as I miss my K75S 1991... Currently I have an 2010 K1300S and an 1974 R90S (not for sale for any money)

Hi Chris. I run a 1995 K1100Lt SE over here in the uK and love it, so any videos on these are appreciated. I love your expertise of three bears explanation especially in your earlier videos on the K's so keep them coming please. Stay safe out there.

Please do, Chris - your content is the best on BMW's of a certain age, and i'm looking hard at a '98 RS right now.

I had to replace a pinion pivot needle bearing and the replacement that came was a solid drive in steel bearing. Very nice but for the price. Will be watching for more classic K stuff.

K1200rs is indeed a great bike - I own a '98. I give it an overall rating of 4.9/5. That point 1, the k1200rs does enjoy its petroleum. I figured, with all its great features, its kryptonite is its demand for it. As a reviewer once said "when you're out there, keep a keen eye on the gas gauge, it's got a habit of sneaking up on the 1/4th when you're having fun"

Definitely interested in this series, Chris, and about the 'brick' K bikes generally. I have an early K100RS, and in the past have owned a K1100RS. I considered buying a K1200RS but thought it was too heavy and complicated. Maybe this series will make me look at it again!

I would love you to do the k series. I have a 1985 k100 rt. This bike has been tastefully customised into a basic old school style bike.

My second bike was a K100 which was replaced by an 1100. Loved those bikes as daily ride. Now driving a 1500 Goldwing but I would really like to go back to a K bike. A series might really be the nudge I need to go get one... Loved your clips, helped me a lot back when I had those K bikes, though parts are getting pricy if at all available.

I have a 2004 K1200gt with 70k miles on it. Clutch starting to slip. No one in Boise Idaho wants to attempt repairing it including Mitch Berger who has been my go to guy for years. I met a guy who has Masonic ties. He said he would help but then disappeared on me.

Once upon a time I dreamt of buying one of these K Nightmares, thankfully I found your channel back then and learned to steer away from it. They are cheap for "reasons". Up to you as a prospective owner to decide if you can handle it or not.

I once had a k1200rs, the blue one so it was the second Generation. I had to give it away because it was such a nightmare to work on. I did not have the money to let it repair... I would like to see you swear and stuff :D (I now have an Yamaha fj1200. Best bike ever)
@Freebyrd1991 Жыл бұрын
What do you consider a nightmare? Curious since I just bought one with 24,000 on it with the idea of it being a "low maintenance " bike.

"Fairly reliable?" Is that fairly reliable as in BMW reliability units, or in Japanese motorcycle reliability units? Go back to the time that France introduced the New Franc, (NF) to replace the Old Franc, (OF) at the rate of 1 NF = 100 OF, to get an idea of relative magnitudes. Japanese motorcycles are the NF, of course. Yes, I own a K-bike--a 2005 K1200S. Nuff said.
