The percentage of people with degrees have gone up dramatically over the past decades. The market is saturated with degree holders. The economy can only have so many people in white collar positions and still function. White collar positions provide no value without leveraging blue collar workforces.

Great points, I loved the video Tanzeer! I'm wondering how do you filter through opportunities? I've found myself in a position where I'm volunteering in many places and want to start focusing down on a few places Would love to hear your insights
@tanzeerbhuiyan10 сағат бұрын
Distractions are often disguised as opportunities. It's only once you start taking up more opportunities can you start differentiating between gold-mine opportunities and coal-mine opportunities. Tldr ; Get more life experience, and get some mentors.

Yup, 100%. I had to leave family back in my home town. It was painful. However, if I wanted to succeed and give them a better life, I needed to move out and create opportunities my home town wouldn't allow.

5:06, I enjoy how you drop wisdom bombs in humorous ways. (Another wisdom bomb being "the third way" with the analogy of breaking into the club haha). Also, I thought I had perfectionism down, but I def have unnecessary prereqs to many of my tasks (and have to feel good enough to do it)

Hey man super awesome videos, can you do a video on how to read and understand the question properly in a test? Like I am good at encoding, I remember the whole chapter but when I see a question I think too quick and don't know how to properly answer it, in a structured way to get all the marks. This usually happens because I can't properly understand the question or I think too quick and I have a solution for thinking slowly but not the one for why I can't understand the questions during a test
@tanzeerbhuiyanКүн бұрын
Hey Anos, I don't have any learning specific skills planned at the moment. In the mean time, I would recommend "Justin Sung" and "Archer Newton" on KZbin, as they have videos that specifically answer this question. Also, I work with them and 10000% advocate their content, so if you like what you see here, you'll like what they have to offer too!

Hard hitting video but much needed lesson. Best learnt before it's too late, that's when it hits you like a truck It comes back to how much control you take of your own life, key word being TAKE. If you don't actively grab at all opportunities to be responsible then it's not fair on yourself honestly, you're not giving yourself the best shot at anything you do in life

In relation to this record-review-reflect habit what role does practicing these skills in everyday conversations play? My guess is that this habit just helps build low-moderate conscious competence with certain communication skills and then that can become unconscious competence when you practice those skills in everyday contexts.
@tanzeerbhuiyan8 күн бұрын
You've got to make sure to practice this deliberately outside of convos. The practice outside of convos will then slowly start to trickle into your day to day convos. To develop unconscious competence at the higher levels, it often takes months and very high levels of awareness and reflection.

I think the point about anxiety actually generalizes well to other areas too. Usually anxiety is a sign that you're in the fear zone so it's necessary to genuinely improve and get better at anything.

Never thought I'd get slapped by Tanzeer during a video You're spot on with the anxiety, I just had an interview and the second I stopped trying to run away from the anxiety and working on just doing what needs to be done, everything clicked (kinda) The anxiety slowly turns into excitement, still made mistakes and slipped up with my communication a few times but I actually enjoyed the interview overall. If I focused on the anxiety then it'd be a totally different experience for sure

I did the record-review-reflect just now where I discussed the word, "fever" (from a random word generator). I realized I'm - 6/10 nonverbal, - 6/10 verbal, and - 4/10 (max!) on content. For the 6/10 on my nonverbal, I have two responses to uncertainty while I'm communicating: - I do this thing where my eyes literally look up and around when I'm searching hard for an idea... It's natural, sure, but I could see it interrupt the flow of communication - I bunch up my right fist in tension when I feel uncertain on what I'm talking about. For the 6/10 on verbal: - I'm happy with pauses (I do a lot of meditation/emotional release), so I don't have many filler words... - but I had no idea I was this much of a one-key person. My voice is so monotone haha. For the 4/10 (max!) content, I haven't gotten it on Loom yet, so it's not transcribed, but: - I know I struggled with the content (4/10 at best). The random word was "fever", so I was telling a story about a time I got sick because the A/C broke... And I ended up "trapped" in that hot room b/c I was too sick to leave ha. - While it was interesting, it felt like it lacked structure / aim. My guess is I need to focus more on the big picture as I speak, going into the details later. This all said, I think improving this will be a gift to my coworkers and family lol.

This is awesome, I love this mindset, how your self improvement will be a gift to other people.

As much as I see myself as an entrepreneur, I probably have a strength for a mental health field. Maybe I could shadow (to the extent that HIPAA allows): - a therapist - a social worker - a psychologist - a psychiatrist and see how it's like. I've had conversations with them, but I've never seen what their daily life is like. Would move the needle on a decision like this. And just to make sure, I could volunteer at a startup, too >:) to see if the entrepreneur's life still holds appeal

Of course, the best teacher is experience. Most med students don’t know what it means to be a doctor until they’re 3 years into the degree. I found out within 2-3 weeks + with no debt or significant commitment .
