I’ve a Tiger 1050, I’m replacing my stator when the new gasket arrives. The Haynes manual isnt very clear on whether you need to drain and replace the oil when doing this. Says if the bike is on a side stand you do, doesn’t say if you should if it’s on the centre. Clearly you didn’t drain yours before removal?

Hi not sure if I'm too late to get a response, but firstly thanks for the video. Quick question I had was where you mounted the new unit? I've just installed one and it seems to clash with the old earthing point on the timing cover - probably because the new unit has 2x centred mounting holes left-and-right, instead of the 4 of the original. Thanks!

i dont understand why you went through all the trouble of drawing a diagram and spending so much time explaining how the vaccum pump works, but didnt even bother cleaning the surface of the motor before installing the new pump. otherwise very informative video

Excelente. Sólo comentar que para completar la instalación, tuve que conectar el cable negro que sale del motor de partida al cable negro que queda libre en el conector (doble) que va hacia el starter relay. Saludos y gracias por la info.

Not exactly a diagnosis as you claimed. Could have been the servo/brake assist itself or the line. It’s fine to just buy new everything and see if it fixes the problem, but that’s not exactly the same as showing us how to diagnose the fault exactly

Just did this on my 2010 - I was convinced this was going to work but it didnt- 2 days ago was up and running then I had the great idea of using a OB reader to clear the codes, after that the car never turned on again. I have tried everything, nothing works.

Hello again today i just broke down lost all power to the rev and speedo and shortly after that the engine stopped and the battery was flat so will be trying to find out which is the problem ,stator or regulator thanks again this is very valuable information so i can get my 2004 tiger 955i back on the road where she belongs.

so if i want to use this engine in for example a 2cv. the loom is different. i could use a modern three phase reg/rect unit. connect the three wires from the alternator to it. one to plus and negative of the batttery & i could add a wire from the ignition and send when turned on send 12v to the df terminal to power the alternator ?

Hey Friend 👋 Please help 🙏 😢 I have the 2004 model and yesterday at some point during my ride i noticed a deference in the facionality of the motor. It started to sound a bit different, more like it didn't have enough power to run properly and especially when I opened the throttle for a bit the engine made a weird knocking sound 😳 for whatever reason. It used to work just fine before yesterday. No rattlings, no other stuff, it had an issue with the DPS and the battery, I immediately replaced them with new ones last month. The bike has a new battery, new oils 🛢 and it didn't have any other worrying signs when it comes to the engine. Please share if you don't mind. Thanks.

maybe the magnets are weak. over time this happens. I suggest you check if the magnets are weak. If this has occurred, the voltage induced in the stator coils falls below the required value. Due to the power consumed, the current will be higher than it should, to compensate for the drop in induced voltage. Then one of the stator coils can't handle it and burns out. This is what happened with my Tiger 955i.

Thanks for this video. Yep has been a big help. When I went to check mine, the connector between the wires from the stator and the regulator had obviously been getting very hot and burnt away, there were just the wires hanging there. Ran the bike up, voltages were all around 13 on tick-over, which all went up to around 17 at 2000rpm. Apparently Triumph 995i Tigers are prone to problems with the charging system, and often leaving there riders stranded with a bike which will not start! - Other than that I do really like mine, and will enjoy it so much more when I can get these problems sorted.

Great idea but please tell me that wasn't WD40 that you were spraying around your brand New pads? If so, you'd be doing a great job of contaminating them. You only need a few dabs of Copperslip on the tread of the retaining pin, grub screw and I'd you feel like it, a thin smear on the back of the piston side pad to prevent vibration a d squealing. 👍

This awesome video needs far more love. I'm totally glad you didn't find the draw under the first fuse as the next steps was exactly what I needed, mine turned out to be the negative earth under the battery tray was corroded but was super helpful to see two more options (alternator and glow plug) check you performed would certainly help many people, Vauxhalls of this year and design almost all suffer parasitic drain at some point in my experience and I wish there were a OBD-linked sensor that would let you know things like this, wouldn't be hard for them to add.

Definitely won't trust you viewings hunter, you could run the ip test straight without the unlock, probably you have no idea what the lock off mode does....

Thanks for this video. Just got a used 955i and needed to change the pads. Although I would have worn gloves, used proper high temp brake grease, and a torque wrench, this video is all anyone needs to know how to change the pads. Good on ya, mate!

I had a 2001 black beauty with changing issues and it over heated the wiring harness witch melted the harness connector's. Switch those with new ones and sodder. Replace the stator and rectafire. But it's a good idea to replace the battery at least every 2 years because if it's not holding a strong enough charge they're going to give you a problem even if it turns over fast enough to start. IMHO keep a battery new. Those are the best bike's I've got a 2006 now without any stator issues . It gets more attention than a 35000$ road glide. Goes like stink handling is great break's good does the job on dirt roads very well comfortable all day 6 gallon+ tank, and the best part is they can be had for under 4K with very low miles. In my opinion one of the best bike's for the money out there. But you need to be at least 5 foot 10 as they are quite tall. Get one if you can!!!

My 2004 decided to stop charging so I just checked it... 0v, 1.3v, and 5vac at idle... I think maybe it's broke. Left me with a dead bike fairly close to the middle of a 40 mile long dirt road in the Adirondacks... but the Tiger has been a great bike over the years so I'm not complaining... wish it had picked a SLIGHTLY better location... but I'm not complaining. ;-)

Not quite sure how a glow plug is causing parasytic draw? To my knowledge they are only supplied with 12v for a few seconds before you turn the key to start, therefore if they're drawing current all the time then the relay must be permanently energised or its contact is welded shut?
