Yikes, I normally agree with you but this one is a hard no for me. Yes, if the father actually provides. Unfortunately, I have witnessed more men not caring and just leaving the wife to raise the kids alone. My sister is one of them they have 6 kids and he does nothing at all. So now she needs 4 jobs just to provide for her and her kids (they divorced because he was sexually abusing her). So, I get where you are coming from but not all men are responsible like that man. If we don't have child support, that is just leaving valuable women in a place where they have to sacrifice their whole existence just to put food on the table, which then leaves them broke. My sister has so many health issues just because of the abuse he put her threw and then also the fact she is working 4 jobs everyday just to put food and clothes on her kids. Wish the world was better and more men would step up but they just don't. So no child support is not always a scam.

My biggest issue is, if one parent can't afford to care for children, you shouldn't have custody. Mothers that depend on child support to be a financially viable parent are the real bums.

In Massachusetts, you pay child support til 21 or 23. Scam & unreasonable. Thank God it is over for me.

I think child support calculations may vary from state to state. I received child support based on what my ex-husband's wages HOWEVER, I ALSO had to report my wages, benefits available through my employment, monthly rent, average utilities, car payment, etc. I had to basically justify where I was living (not too expensive, but was good for the kids), verify that I had a decent vehicle (but not making horrendous payments) and literally sign documentation stating that neither of us would withhold anything from the kids if it was a financial need. Thankfully those days are over for me now. We had a few bumps in the road, but eventually we both realized IT WASNT ABOUT US.

Child support when done right is fine, my father paid support for me, my mom had it reduced actually cause the courts had him paying too much and he couldn't afford to live himself , but he still helped with whatever else he could ,bought us all cars etc, shoes, clothes even with support . I don't see any issue with support only greedy baby mama's or farhers taking advantage of tbe situation ...

Why should a mother be monitored on how she spent the money? Of course you shouldn't be needing to ask every time the child needs something ?

My ex's child support was to help me support my kids. I never asked for more because I didn't want to make them poor.

“Child support has been weaponized in America.” I agree with that statement because it’s a government run system that doesn’t support the children, it supports the “baby mama” and it’s a system that can destroy a man financially if they happen to go through some hardship in life. The government takes your income tax return, the government AND employers have to take their little piece of the pie, it hurts your credit, and you can’t even get a LTC if you’re delinquent which is actually the government infringing on your 2nd amendment rights. Then the outline of possession times can be manipulated by the “baby mamma” who doesn’t want the father to be in the kids life, and fails on being clear about “LETTING THE DAMN DAD SEE THEIR KIDS! 🤬”
