Fellow rad tech here. How do you feel when you get an order for hip and femur same side two separate orders requesting complete studies (all views and exposures) requested? Our protocol for a hip is to obtain an AP pelvis along with AP hip and Frog or X-table (when appropriate). When I get (and it irritates me to no end) a complete hip series and femur series for same side, I just do a Pelvis and femur since we get the proximal hip joint, AP and LAT (on 10 x 12). I used to cower when I was a newbie but now no. It is redundant and frankly overexposure to the patient. Also unethical and opposed to ALARA.

That’s a nice pre- explanation of the BE procedure. Unfortunately, when I was an X-ray tech, I did not have the time to do such an extensive talk with the patient. I had to schedule the fluoroscopic exams when the radiologist was available.

Thanks for posting all these videos! I am an xray/mri tech, but needed to "retire" to be caregiver for parents. I will need to return to work sometime in the future and most likely will return to xray rather than mri (due to my inability to keep up with the ever evolving implant safety in mri). I'm doing my clinical at UTMB and they use this GE setup. The only complaints are that you have to move slow when manually moving for axial projections and you can't feel any detents.

Dose it hurt
